<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>USA Basketball wants Nuggets center Marcus Camby to wear red, white and blue.Jerry Colangelo, USA Basketball's senior men's team managing director, said Monday he has extended an invitation to Camby to join the team. But it's uncertain if Camby will accept because of a family situation he has been dealing with since season's end. The 2007 NBA defensive player of the year is expected to speak to Colangelo soon about the invitation."The ball is in his court and we are awaiting a call from him," Colangelo said in a phone interview Monday. "We've had a call into his agent for some time here. We have not heard back. We made a determination that we want to extend an invitation to him."If Camby accepts, he will have an opportunity to make Team USA's roster for the FIBA Americas Championship, an Olympic qualifying tournament, in Las Vegas from Aug. 22-Sept. 2. He also would get a chance to make Team USA's 2008 Beijing Olympics team if it qualifies. Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony also plays for Team USA.</div>Source<span style="color:#000080">thats some honor</span>
No. It is an honor but the guy has enough injury and durability problems as it is. He needs to focus on continuing to be the defensive player of the year for the Nuggets. Team USA is a joke now anyway.
How is Team USA a joke now anyway? Thats complete bullsh**. Im so tired of people talking about how we're bad..we're not bad. But its a bit more difficult to play against teams who have been playing with each other since they were 12,13,14 yrs old. USA is going to be ALOT better this summer for the simple fact that most of the players know their roles and what they need to do. Just give it to Melo, let Wade come off the bench and put Howard in to pound inside. Thats just a few, but these guys know their roles now and they're going to be alot better...they're not even that bad in the first place.Yeah its a honor to have a player invited. Even if your player(mine is Mike Miller) doesn't even go, its still flattering that your player gets recognition.

thats besides the point, I was refering to how Wade was such a good spark off the bench during the summer.

They don't take it seriously and half ass it. You know they do. They aren't "bad" but they don't put enough effort into it or make adjustments to the international game. It isn't all about the USA anymore. There's basketball in other countries and they're good too. That's why there's so many international players in the NBA today. It's a joke and the way the team is put together and organized is a joke. They should use college kids again.
I'm getting sick of olympic basketball and the olympics as well for that matter. It is an honor to get selected to represent your country in something but do us NBA fans really give two shits if America beats Uruguay in the middle of the off-season? I'm just waiting for D-Wade, LeBron, or one of these players to have a catastrophic injury while playing in these meaningless games. I hate the olympics as it is so my opnion about olympic basketball is totally biased. I agree with the argument that it should be college players. I bet the chemistry would flow better and they would probably put in 10X the effort that the NBA summer games jumble roster does now.
This is why they should have invited Iverson. Iverson really wan't to play for team USA, and represent he would treat it as a honor not a party. The younger guys are to full of them selfs sometimes. If you ask me he was the only one last time who really tryed. And as for Camby no way he should do this he needs to be healthy next year for Denver's run if we keep him like I hope.
They dont half-ass play anymore. They used to, but thats why Coangelo brought in Battier, B. Miller type of players. This is a legit team, and they're going to be really good. They DONT half-ass play, anybody who saw them this summer wouldve seen that.
He would be a great addition to the team. Anytime you can get the defensive player of the year, its a huge plus.

AI likes to party yet he was a pro representing team USA, and so was Duncan. That is why I don't see how you could have not invited him and he still has not lost a step even at 31. (knock on wood)
