I know that the "ok" symbol thing used to be a game where if you do the symbol and if someone see's it (below your waste) you get to punch them, but in this context, it's hard to use that as the reason.

The guy in the 2nd row, far right, appears to be a person of color and it looks like he's given the salute too. If you do a google image search for this picture, it seems to be of a high school in Wisconsin.

    https://boingboing.net/2018/11/13/white-supremacist-prom-photo-f.html

You'll find a link to this . This includes this picture

and it looks like the guy in front of him (the person of color I referenced above) has it his hand up too (tho I might be wrong).

I'm not bringing that up to say "see? A black kid did it, it's ok!" but more of a "wtf is with these idiots?"

I hate to turn this into an Israel thread - but there is a good reason for this - and when there was an offer for a 2 states solution by Izhak Rabin (at the time Israel's PM) - it was the PLO that was against it as they wanted to eradicate Israel off the map (something Hamas still wants).

There can be no solution until both sides are willing to accept the existence of the other - and it was not Israel that was standing in the way of that.

So there are no democrat racist?
What about Al Sharpton or The Black Panthers? Maybe they are not, but they sure come across as democrat racist to me. Hell, Sharpton ran for President rep the democratic party.
Yeah, I grew up in NoPo and knew many blacks that where were racist, but would associate with the and play ball with white guys and get along. But the racism was still there on both sides.
And guess what, most were die hard Dem's as I was.
So this blanket statement that all racist are republican is total bs.
When i see those marching in the street shouting " who do we want dead? Police,Pigs in a blanket" and have to explain to my grandkids whats going on that makes it tough to believe your statement "all racist are republicans" and I'm not even one. And I would wager a bet most all of them would vote democrat.

Go ahead and look at the borders back in the day and look at them now... If someone invaded your territory and began terrorizing you daily, would they or would they not be standing in the way of accepting their existence?

Americans blindly backing Israel over Palestine is a symptom of the problem Israel caused.

Please tell me what you know about the Black Panthers and where you got the info from.

If you call them racist, you got your info FROM a racist.

I grew up there - I have a very different view of it (which is backed by historical evidence).

I am not saying that Israel did not have a hand in it - but the invasion in 1948 was not started by Israel, and the 1967 war was started because of blockage of access to Israel, the 1973 war was not started by Israel and the 2 states solutions in the mid 90s was not blocked by Israel. All you have to do is look at the amount of Arab citizens that Israel has (over 1.5 millions) - to see the difference between those that chose to live peacefully with their neighbors and those that chose to call for Israel's eradication.

Sure, Israel won these wars and won territory which it was willing to partially give back in the mid-90s, but to call Israel the only or even the primary aggressor in these conflicts is pure nonsense.

I grew up in the 50's & 60's and saw BP's interviewed on the TV many times and it was all about Black Power and were very hateful, which I understood.
I don't recall them at all trying to mediate or conciliate the race problem. Maybe they were I simply wasn't aware of it.
I lived a couple blocks from Peninsula Park growing up and remember all sorts of race issue's escalating on both sides. I experienced myself first hand with friends, classmates, teammates, I grew up with which really was hard on me a young person. My folks taught me how to not become racist, I know it is nothing compared towhead Blacks have been subjected to, but never the less, it was tough to witness. My folks very sound loving people and and I had black friends over all the time never an issue. Then things got wild with political figures on both sides ramping up discourse imo. It came form both sides, social figures that got on TV and riled up there base's just like trump.

If leaders from both sides today would demonstrate a willingness to sit down and try and come up with some basic solutions, rather than fan the fire on all sides with rants and hate filled speech, maybe a positive synergy could evolve into something good for the future.

What does this have to do with racism? Nothing.

It has everything to do with police violence.

Sounds like you just wanna hammer on BLM.

I remember in the early 1990s there was an Ethiopian restaurant on SE Hawthorne that I would pass on the way to work in the morning. Multiple days a week there would be a dead possum in front of the doors. I always thought that was weird. Were they putting out poison for them? I wasn't putting together. Then finally after about a month it comes out that the Portland Police we're picking up road kill and throwing it there.
