It didn't seem like he had much of a reaction. That is assault. Should be in jail. He looked back to make sure the ref wasn't looking then leveled the other player. I guess he didn't realize the other ref was watching.

Both teams should have jumped him and let him know what they think of cheap ass shots like that. I'm not a violent person whatsoever but he wouldn't have walked out of that gym on his own after that move.

Their stats are very close in most areas with a slight edge to ET in both assists and most advanced stats:

However, their contracts are not close:

And he needs to see a sports therapist or psychologist before getting back on the court (if they allow him to play again).

I think it's a bit disingenuous to compare Turner and Hayward after a half quarter of a season where:

    1. Hayward is coming off a MAJOR injury
    2. Turner is playing better than he has his entire career and is still just an average-below average player

Hayward has a track record of being an all-star/near all-star type player. Of course you can take the stance that he will never be the same type of player and maybe there's some truth to that, but we wouldn't even be discussing this situation if he didn't have these associated risks.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes Hayward a year or more to return to form or close to it. I think if the option was "turn Turner into Hayward" you definitely have to consider it (not that I think Boston would).

I understand... Thats not my point though. If you were the rockets and your choice was lose or play your starters a lot, you’d probably rather play your starters. Of course Dantoni putting his stars in when down 20 with 3 minutes left os idiotic. My point is just if their only shot to win is to play their stars, then they should play their stars.
Its nice seeing that team come back down from last year, the fact they have to play their stars a ton of minutes is all good news for me.

Edit: I think they destroyed their depth this summer, I dont think their bench is good enough to win them anything. I think their only hope to win is Harden, CP3 and or Gordon having big games. They got rid of all the glue guys...

I think the point was money. Hayward is due 67 million over the next two years. (after this season)
ET is owed 18 mil. If I am Boston and liked ET the last time he was there....I make the trade)

Neither player, even at their best, is worth their contract. But assuming they are at their best (or close to it), I would still rather have Hayward on his deal than Turner on his. I think most teams in the league would agree as well.

    Bingo. Hayward's contract is grotesque.

I would add that whether the topic is Hayward or Melo, people need to stop worrying about the players they WERE and focus on the players they ARE.

And now that I know it was 3 person mechanics, the lead official is doing a GREAT JOB of focusing on his primary area. He should only see that shooter of there are only 2 refs.

The kid who assaulted the other kid has not only been kicked off the team, but kicked out of school. Not even allowed on campus! Other ref saw the punch and kicked him out immediately.

He's also shooting 8% better from the line than LeBron and 18% better than Westbrick.

He is the sole star player again. Big man on campus. Doesn't have to share his team.
