1. Yao Ming2. Amare Stoudemire3. Shaquille O'Neal4. Dwight Howard5. Mehmet Okur6. Marcus Camby7. Emeka Okafor8. Ben Wallace9. Eddy Curry10. Tyson ChandlerEddy Curry isn't as high on my list because other than scoring in the post, he literally does nothing else well, terrible passer, terrible rebounder, terrible shotblocker, terrible defender. Ben Wallace slips because he's non-existant on offense and his defensive numbers are not that amazing. He's still very good despite the number drop. If Tyson Chandler could develop something resembling an offensive game, he'd be higher, his rebounding is tremendous.
I would rate Al Jefferson over Eddy Curry if you consider him a center..and why didn't you rank Dwight Howard? Even if Center isn't his natural position..it isn't Amare's or Emeka's..so I'm gonna list players that can play center but it may not be their nat. position and plus there's so little true centers in the NBA you have to do that. IMO as well Emeka is a bit overrated just because of his shot blocking ability..he's been injured every season in the league and hasn't really been a great offensive player or productive at all.1. Yao Ming2. Amare Stoudemire3. Dwight Howard4. Shaquille O'Neal5. Ben Wallace6. Pau Gasol7. Marcus Camby8. Al Jefferson9. Tyson Chandler10. Eddy Curry or Mehmet Okur..I don't knowHonorable Mention: Andrew BynumI just don't like Mehmet Okur..I don't really think he's that great of a player..this list is tough though by the way.But BCB since when do you make list threads? haha
Dwight Howard is better than Shaquille O'Neal, but pretty solid list. I might put Camby above Okur. Gasol plays some center, but he is primarily a PF.
Why would you consider Al Jefferson a starting center when he plays a majority of his time at PF? Mehmet Okur is the sh*t.
Actually no he doesn't. This year he's played about half and half. When Perkins was out he played center and was very effective there (More on rebounds) and got most of his double doubles and 18-rebound games there. He plays both and even though he's a natural PF so is Amare. Like I said there really aren't 10 "true centers" that are very talented in the league so you have to include those "PF/C" guys.
Playa, I'd count Big Al as a 4. The only reason he played the 5 this year was because we were gangraped with injuries. Notice at the end of the year, when Perk was healthy, Al was starting at the 4 with Perk at the 5. Al can play center, but he's a natural 4 and wouldn't have played so many minutes at the 5 had Perk been healthier. If we end up with Kevin Durant though (knock on wood), Al will play a lot at the 5. But for now, I wouldn't label him as one.1. Yao Ming2. Amare Stoudemire3. Shaquille O'Neal4. Dwight Howard5. Marcus Camby6. Mehmet Okur7. Emeka Okafor8. Ben Wallace9. Eddy Curry10. Tyson ChandlerOkur/Camby is debatable, I had a tough time deciding, but I just highly value Camby's defensive abilities. Okur is no slouch defensively either, but Camby is a force. The value of having good defense in this league nowadays is underappreciated, IMO.Like playa said, since when does BCB make a list thread? I'm shocked.
I thought Jefferson was PF.This season Gasol played C most of the time, but hes a PF. So dont put him on the list.

The guys 7'8 and he can barley dunk the damn basketball. He's weak in the paint, and he's all talk.1. Shaquille O'Neal2. Amare Stoudemire3. Dwight Howard4. Yao Ming5. Ben Wallace 6. Marcus Camby7. Emeka Okafor8. Mehmet Okur9. Eddy Curry10. Tyson ChandlerThe center's pretty much suck these days. Out of this top 10 list, I'd say about 4 of them actually contribute to there team, offensively and defensively.
Shaq out of his prime or a guy that averaged 17 and 12 that hasn't even come close to hitting his peak/ceiling hmm I wonder who I'd want on my team. It isn't like Shaq has that dominant center tag on his forehead anymore anyway. He couldn't lead the Heat out of the first round because he's getting old and fatter not able to keep up with teams that don't play strictly half-court. Dwight Howard in 2007 is better than Shaquille O'Neal in 2007. That's what the question was. It's not about Shaq's history of pure dominance..it's about now.
I think you overrate Memo Okur...He can score the basketball....okay...so can Eddy Curry...Okur isn't that great of a rebounder, and he's not very good at defense too. I know Eddy Curry is a lazy ***hole....but you get the point....I could argue that Shaq should be higher than Amare as well, but I'm not going to...1. Yao Ming2. Shaquille O'Neal3. Amare Stoudemire4. Dwight Howard5. Marcus Camby6. Emeka Okafor7. Mehmet Okur8. Ben Wallace (this can definately be argued...)9. Eddy Curry10. Tyson Chandler
I think people should seriously rethink putting Yao at the top of their list, hes never really carried a team byhimself. When he does, he bombs. Hes not a franchise player and doesn't take over a game. Players like Shaq, Dwight Howard, and Stoudemire can.
1. Yao Ming2. Amare Stoudemire3. Dwight Howard4. Shaquille O'Neal5. Marcus Camby6. Mehmet Okur7. Emeka Okafor8. Ben Wallace9. Eddy Curry10. Tyson ChandlerI see Okafor taking a big leap up in that list by next year. If you count Duncan, which you should this year, he's #1.
1. Yao Ming2. Amare Stoudemire3. Dwight Howard4. Shaquille O'Neal5. Marcus Camby6. Emeka Okafor7. Mehmet Okur8. Tyson Chandler9. Ben Wallace10. Eddy CurryYep, I'd say that is about where I'd rank them.
