n I think what we're seeing with Nurk's seeming underutilization is an approach opposite of last year's forcing the issue. It didn't work to pressure him to be featured in the offense as he's still young and under-skilled to a degree (not to mention our guards are abysmal at entry passes to the post). This year they're really letting the game come to Nurk naturally and he's thriving because of it. As he continues to develop and build more confidence I think we'll see him become a reliable weapon. If he could command a double team in the post it would open up a ton for our often stale/predictable offense.
I think if we had to sign him after this year instead of last, he'd be a max player. We, the Portland Trailblazers, got lucky!!!
And we have a center that can do almost everything! When is the last time we had one of those? Sabonis? People would have wanted to retire Joel Przybilla’s number had he averaged 15 ppg and could shoot from mid range.
Jokic gets all the prais because of his assists, but if this team was built around Nurk, he could easily average 6-8 assists. Don't get me wrong, Jokic is great player, he's gonna be AS this season, but I would rather have Nurk on this contract and with his defense.
