Fuckin' A man. This team pisses me off. Zunino fucking sucked, so glad he was gone. But now Paxton? TO THE YANKEES OF ALL TEAMS? UGH. This team is going to suuuuck the next 5 or 6 years. Again.
I would've traded Felix...they are blowing it up in Seattle. Paxton is one of those very rare starters everybody needs...now they've got two young guys who I know nothing about. Mariners never can find a catcher who can stick and hit well for some reason.
Love baseball but it will be a hard sell Im afraid. Unless, of course you start off winning big and get into the playoffs. If the Mariners don't get back to the playoffs soon, their fanbase will dwindle too.
Felix doesnt have any trade value. Paxton really is the only one that did (pitching wise) Felix is pretty much toast. It sucks, too... it happened so fast.
If this Sheffield guy lives up to the hype it sounds like he could be a near Paxton level pitcher in a couple years, but younger and healthier.
So soon this time? Well at least they won't be trading away three first ballot Hall Of Famers, several 40 home run hitters and one of the best finesse pitchers in the games history this time. If the Mariners aren't the most under achieving franchise in sports history, they are at least in the top three. A Portland expansion team literally deserves a shot to see what it can do because the Mariners have set the perfect example of how to fuck up a possible championship team.
The only thing I can say is Paxton has an injury history. Maybe it will work out ok, but seems like a white flag on next season.
I mean... yay? Though reports have said that the Yanks have cooled considerably on Sheffeild. This is probably going to be another Pineda/Montero thing. Ugh.
Yeah. I know plenty about Jerry. But he makes trades just too make trades. Trader Bob actually made trades that benefited the Blazers. Dipoto makes trades it seems just for the hell of it. I mean, he did get Ben Gamel for not a whole lot. So there that's one good transaction.
I'm an A's fan. So I am used to dealing away vets for young guys. Moneyball. It worked for the A's this year. They had the lowest payroll in baseball and made the playoffs. If you are a middle of the road team that isn't bad and isn't great, this is one route to go - start over. I think its what they need to do in Seattle. That's how baseball works.
This was my first thought too. But they'll probably get traded. lol. Seager can go. I've soured on him for years now.
Out of how many though? In baseball I realize you do make a lot more ttades than other sports, but if I were a Mariner fan I'd be frustrated in his inability to lock down a decent rotation.
