http://www.nypost.com/seven/05182007/sport...eter_vecsey.htm<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>May 18, 2007 -- ENDING educated speculation that highly-coveted free agent coach Sam Mitchell may leave the Raptors for the Pacers or the Bobcats, the NBA's reigning Coach of the Year and Toronto team president Bryan Colangelo have come to terms, The Post has learned. According to a Canadian Mountie, the fully guaranteed agreement is for three years at $4 million per, a $2.4M raise. This just in: Stan Van Gundy has emerged as the prohibitive favorite (over Brian Shawn and Jim Boylan) to replace Rick Carlisle in Indiana. The Post also has learned the Rockets soon will announce Rick Adelman as their new coach, that more or less confirming my original Jeff Van Gundy-is-done story.Adelman is a flawless choice for a team anchored by two superstars and two or three other key components. Never a self-promoter or one to demand players he must or must not have, he merely manages (never over-coaches) the personnel on tap and gets them to the playoffs - 14 out of 14 times as coach of Portland and Sacramento. As expected, Van Gundy is back behind the microphone (for tonight's Game 6 Spurs-Suns telecast), where he has all the answers for everything that's wrong with the world and the game, and where his system always works perfectly. It's interesting to note that the lone time one of his teams got anywhere worthwhile - the 1999 Knicks - is when players he diametrically resented coaching did their own thing.</div>Adleman is a great fit for Houston. I think he'll work absolute wonders with that offense, led by T-Mac and Yao to go along with some dynamite outside shooters. I think Houston needs to make a couple deals, but I think Adleman is going to fit great with Houston.
I honestley wouldn't mind Stan Van Gundy. He's a good coach who's disciplanary (Sp) and knows how to coach defense.

Charlotte is way too young and LB is way too much of a "my way or the highway" for young players who are trying to establish themselves in this league. Also, he never stays anywhere long-term. It'd be a 2 year quick fix then he'd leave. If Larry Brown returns to the sidelines, it needs to be with a veteran team.

Larry Brown could turn heads in Charlotte. You just can't tell. Look for them to give him a 1 year contract to prove something.
Adelman would be good in Charlotte. Hes good in bringing up players. Bibby, brought out the best in Chris Webber, and the best in Christie. Hell work great along Okafor and guys like Felton, its Sacramento all over again.
Great...Sam is a young coach who really did a great job last year...He's not a big X's and O's guy, but maybe we can get an assistant coach to come in and do that. Sam is a players coach, who gets the best out of his players, and teaches ball movement to his players...I'm happy...I don't really want a new coach to come in, because Sam did a great job last year, and the players would have to adjust to a new system, when they already played really well in Sam's style. As for the Houston signing, nice. Adelman is a winner....plain and simple...Jeff Van Gundy is obviously a great defensive coach, but he doesn't know how to coach offense. Adelman is great at coaching offense, and he should help Houston put up some more points on the board. Also, when you've got T-Mac, you shouldn't play at a turtle's pace. I understand Yao is slow, but they hardly ever run....and they've got the tools right in the woodshed (TMAC).
