On a related note, a Federal judge in Michigan has ruled that involuntary female genital mutilation is constitutionally protected.

You might assume this guy has extreme views about religious freedom - nope. He based his ruling on the commerce clause. According to this fine fellow, violence against women is protected by the constitution since it does not interfere with interstate commerce!

    Wtf?

If for some godawful reason it is constitutionally protected we need to amend the constitution asap.

In fairness, the ruling only prohibits the Federal government from regulating violent crime. Which is still completely whack.

One or two of that judge's age spots are cancers that have rooted into his brain.

I don't like abortions but I'd be God damned, if I were a woman, if I'd let someone else tell me what I can do with my body.

It depends on what you mean by pro abortion. Do you mean that you're not comfortable with a woman having an abortion under any circumstances or do you have a wider definition that includes those that don't like abortions but leave it up to the woman to decide for herself what's best? There are lots of morality choices in life and we have to be free to choose from among many of them.

Innocent life taken vs someone who took an innocent life

    Seems pretty different to me

There's probably a great abortion joke to add here. I mean any joke can be good with the right delivery......except abortion jokes of course because there is no delivery.

I find that too many people on the pro choice side of the abortion debate seem disturbingly content with the idea of it. I myself am pro choice and think the far-right's efforts to outlaw it are a needless waste, but I also feel that abortion is a terrible thing that we should strive to minimize as much as possible.

Abortion should be like DMV. Go if you have to.

One advantage of going to the DMV - nobody tries to claim you "wanted" to do it or didn't have a darn good reason to do it.

I don't hate the DMV with a passion anymore. Don't know about Oregon but we have appointments now and I don't even really mind going. In and out in 20 minutes.
