<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Post also has learned the Rockets soon will announce Rick Adelman as their new coach, that more or less confirming my original Jeff Van Gundy-is-done story. Adelman is a flawless choice for a team anchored by two superstars and two or three other key components. Never a self-promoter or one to demand players he must or must not have, he merely manages (never over-coaches) the personnel on tap and gets them to the playoffs - 14 out of 14 times as coach of Portland and Sacramento.</div>

Adelman will have the same trouble with Houston as he did in his last 2 years in Sacramento. No big that can pass well and no slashers. I don't see him as a good fit for Houston.

Rick Adelman isn't the defensive-minded type of coach, and he doesn't run a half-court offense. He ran a high-octane offense (Princeton offense) in Sacramento, and everyone was involved, not just two players. Rick Carlisle would have been a better fit.

^So he's the opposite of JVG, correct? How's this is a bad fit.And as far as I'm concerned, Brad Miller was still a King in Adelman's final tenure. Their failure more or less was mainly due to changing of era in Sac with much of the Kings departing. You can't tell me they were not meeting expectations with the makeup of the team. I mean look at what Adelman did last year compared to Musselman's train wreck of a season.

Those teams they had were great but they clearly just couldn't make that extra step to get to the NBA finals. I think Adelman will be interesting in Houston. It will be fun to see what he can do with an offensive monster in Tracy McGrady. Mavsfan100, Adelman had great success in Portland without a big guy that could pass and not a lot of slashers either. He built those teams in the early 90's around Clyde Drexler, a guy who has a very similar game to Tracy McGrady.

I like this signing, although I was really pulling for a Larry Brown signing. But Adelman is a very good coach, and will hopefully let T-Mac finally operate the way he did with the Magic. JVG used T-Mac's scoring abilities horribly.

I wonder how this is going to affect Yao's game? It's pretty obvious that Yao ain't the fittest guy on the floor and does better in a more half-court type offense.
