Re: What's This Curse From? What did the Suns do to anger the basketball gods like this? Every year something, whether it's an injury or suspension, goes wrong. The only time we got a lucky break was when Duncan was injured for that series and then Kidd was also injured for us and that's the playoffs when Hardaway had the injury that finished him off I believe. Most champions have some sort of luck, but we never had. And forget the playoffs, what about when Amare had to go through the microfracture surgery right after signing him to a huge contract? And what about just losing a coin toss and lottery to just miss out on Kareem and David Robinson and instead having to go with the 2nd best big men which turned out to be busts. Diawsome, you started it, any idea on what they did to be the most unlucky team in the league? We must have the most playoff appearances out of teams not to win a championship.Oh well, I'm sure they'll get it someday, hopefully in my lifetime. It's too bad they couldn't get one before Jerry Colangelo moved on to his next business venture, maybe too the Cubs. I'll miss the Colangelo's, at least they brought us one championship.Go Diamondbacks!
Re: What's This Curse From? You can say the same about any team thats been around long enough. But Phoenix did anger the basketball gods, you havent played good defense until this year...haha. im kidding. Well im kidding about the haha, yall need better D tho...it pretty nice now, but pretty nice doesn't cut it. You see that 3rd qaurter?
Re: What's This Curse From? I think our D is pretty good, but we need someone to play alongside Amare that's younger than KT. Kurt Thomas did well and with him on the floor our D was very good but he wore out too easily. I think Horford may be able to do good in his spot if we get him. I'd also like a dirty player like Fortson to come off the bench if the series gets like this again. You know Burke wasn't going to do anything to hurt or even bother anyone. This offseason is important, but unless we get KG I don't see us contending for a while because we need to get rid of a lot of salary.
Re: What's This Curse From? I think Joakim Noah will be a perfect match. Ive been saying this since last year, like what if Poenix could get him, and now yall can. Phoenix has good defense, but its need to be elevated to NBA top 5, or atleast top 10.I think its outragous people are suggesting Amare Stoudemire might be on the trade block, thats so stupid. If any of the stars gets traded, it will defiently be Marion. Stoudemire is Pheonix's future.
Re: What's This Curse From? You can go look in the NBA Draft thread to see why I would be extremely disappointed if Noah is drafted. I don't think we need a top 5 defensive team, just one that is more consistent. Horford is a better defensive player and rebounder anyway, imo. I don't think we'll be any good though as long as D'Antoni makes the moves that he does. He's so reluctant to go big even if we have the right players to do it. I wish we could get Nellie here. He's a more experienced, more poised and smarter version of D'Antoni.
Re: What's This Curse From? Thats it though, I dont think Horford wouldnt fit well. Hes atheltic, but not quick enough to keep up with Phoenix. I think Horford will become a star type of player, but realisticly thats the last think Phoenix needs, yall are already having problems with salary or whatever(TOO MANY GOOD PLAYERS...DAMN YOU...AND YALL ONCE HAD JJ AND QRICH..WHAT THE HELL!!!!). Yall need a energy player, and Noah is a better defender. Hes pretty much Udonis Haslem with better offense and better hands. But im one of the people whoa argued you about it in some thread, so no point arguing here. But we boh agree Phoenix needs, and will most likely draft, a good big man with defense.
Re: What's This Curse From? I've been saying this for 2 years now, and I'm certainly not the only one: the Suns will never win a championship with this style and roster make-up. They need to pace themselves, get deeper, and get the biggest thing holding them back - DEFENSE! If you Suns fans are unaware of what the term "defense" means, go to an NBA game in another arena, the fans will likely chant it later on in the game. Assuming Atlanta doesn't slide up to Top 3 territory in the lottery, Phoenix should go after either Joakim Noah (maybe even trade down for him and get a little extra in return), Corey Brewer, or Julian Wright. Suns fans in the other thread (in the draft section a few weeks ago) said "If you can't produce much offensively, you can't play in Phoenix." That's the problem, they have so many offensive weapons but little defensive firepower/structure. You have all the offense in the world with the best playmaker running it, you need defense. A guy like Noah would be the beneficiary of easy buckets from Nash or cleanup baskets. Brewer is a good shooter and a slasher, and Julian Wright is an absolute freak of nature athletically. But they all play good defense, that is what's needed in Phoenix.
Re: What's This Curse From? I think they can win with the roster makeup, but they need to learn a solid half-court set and get alot more defensive minded. What makes Dallas so good is their ability to play fast and halfcourt, and we see this with Detriot too. San Antonio some how opposed that style for the most part last night, and thats when your half-court game needs to come in. Which saying that, maybe Phoenix should go after Horford, who may be able to be that half-court player.
Re: What's This Curse From? Their defense isn't bad at all, they were really good most of the time during the playoffs. It needs a little bit of an upgrade. The depth is a bigger thing to me. D'Antoni just doesn't know how to use his bench. He didn't play Kurt Thomas until he absolutely had to and quality players like Jumaine Jones and Jalen Rose got no chance. I thought Jalen Rose would've been pretty good in a series like this because he's good in a half court game. He definitely would have been useful in Game 5 so our players wouldn't be so worn out. What I'm saying is, I think we have pretty good defense now and players who can succeed in a half court game, but D'Antoni doesn't know how to use them and so for the non-Suns fans the defense looks like sh*t when it really isn't. I do think we need a little more of a defensive presence in the middle, Kurt is too old so he can't play too many minutes consistently and isn't a big shot blocker, but the coaching has put us down the most. I'd really rather have Iavaroni as the coach. He's not a big offensive coach, but he knows these players and D'Antoni's plays so they won't do any worse I don't think. I'd really like to see him make some of the decisions as a head coach and see how he can do. Mike is always outcoached late in the playoffs. Let him do what he will as a GM.But, this is about the team's history and how damn unlucky they've always been. Argh!
Re: What's This Curse From? TOO BAD!! We're getting Iavaroni .Yalls defense isnt bad anymore, its solid but not good enough for San Antonio. But if you want the truth, defense is one of those things that streams outve one player and leads to the entire team(perfect example was Artest and the Kings; when Battier played for Memphis, Memphis was #1 in PPG allowed). And Phoenix doesn't have that dominant of a defender. Marion and Bell are certainly good, but Marion really isnt a lockdown defender, and its hard for a guard to be that, thats why Raja Bell doesn't bring that. But Joakim Noah could, thats why he a perfect pick for the suns in the draft.
Re: What's This Curse From? His wiry frame would be abused by all decent big men in the game. At least Horford has some muscle. And Horford actually has a chance to be more than a role player. Once his big salary kicks in Marion and Nash will be gone so that won't be a problem later on.
Re: What's This Curse From? True, but youll have Barbosas bigass contract...you know hes going to get about 10mill. Joakim Noah will get bigger, but like I said, hes a Udonis Haslem type of player, and unlike Horford, Noah could probably come in and instantly do his thing, cause your either a good defender or not at this point. Imagine of you had Noah on DUncan this year, Yeah Duncan still wouldve been good but probably had been pested by Noah. Noah is such a energy player he doesn't even need muscle. Every team needs these type of players(Varejou, Haslem, Elson/Oberto, etc). Maybe the only team that doesn't have this type of player is Detriot, but they have Prince who is a mixture of star and role player(Tayshaun is freaking awesome, hes going to be so good, note that)
Re: What's This Curse From? If Noah was here Duncan would've backed him up all the way under the hoop. Kurt Thomas did a very good job, he just wore out in the end.Horford could also come in and instantly play defense, rebound and have some sort of offensive game and would already be strong enough to deal with bigger players. We don't need to get weaker in the middle and that's what replacing Kurt with Noah does.Marion does the same things as Prince and some of those big men. A long athletic guy that plays with a lot of energy and makes things happen on D.I'm beginning to repeat what I said in the thread on the NBA draft section. Before you post again go to that thread because I'm sure it'll have the answer to whatever rebuttal you have here.
Re: What's This Curse From? Im not going back to that thread lol. Ill just say this and let it be done. Marion isnt a lockdown defenfer, Prince is. Raja IS a lockdown defender, but it doesn't flow to the rest of the team. Horford isnt a better defender than Noah. And Noah appears to weak, and so what if he is. I dont think he would get pushed around because he is so athletic and is stronger than you think. Look at someof the best defenders, Bruce Bowen, Dennis Rodman, Tayshaun Prince...all are either shorter or skinnier(or both in Rodmans case) than most of the players they defend...yet they defend them and keep them from good games. The appearance of size is overrated. Noah will not get pushed around.
Re: What's This Curse From? And I think he'll be a scrub that won't get a minute of playing time after the all-star break unless we have serious injuries. Just in case you come back: http://www.bballworld.us/forum/index.php?s...t=0&start=0
Re: What's This Curse From? The Suns problem isn't really a lack of defense because they were good enough this year and in this series defensively to win it. Their problem is they are absoultely horrid at rebounding, the Spurs got way too many easy points off offensive rebounding and the Suns were shut down to one and done possessions.
Re: What's This Curse From? I kind of agree. For the most part they were close in rebounding, it's just that Parker got too many easy scores which makes me really think that a good shot blocker is a big need, but all those offensive rebounds for the Spurs yesterday were crucial. Duncan had like 3 rebounds off of missed free throws, that should never, ever happen.
Re: What's This Curse From? This is like the Kings of 2000-2003. Great starting lineup, a couple of good bench players and coach who only cares about offense, swagger that they shouldn't have and trashy fans. They both got beaten by veteran teams. Obviously there are differences but this is the closest comparision I could make for the suns.
Re: What's This Curse From? What did you do to anger the basketball gods... Somehow I think it involves Charles Barkley.

Has there every been a team that won that didn't believe they were the best?Trashy fans? You live in Austrailia, you have no experience with any fans here....psh, just go wrestle a kangaroo. If you judge by forums only which is pretty much all you could do, the Lakers have some of the dumbest fans on the planet, think they are contenders even as one of the worst playoff teams and LA has the most bandwagoners out of pretty much any team. And I've actually been to LA and know LA fans. Oh no, I'm trashy. I'm not talking about these 3 years anyway, this topic just swayed that way.
