I know this is another hypothetical situation, but say we get the #2 pick and select Kevin Durant. Why hinder Durant's development, Gerald Green's development and Pierce's championship dreams?I would think it would make sense in the long run to let Pierce go and get some youth back for him. We might as well just complete the youth movement. I am anti-trading Pierce but if we get Durant, let's be honest..Theo, Gerald and some fillers are not gonna get us a superstar. Gerald Green's value isn't as good as Danny and co have led us to believe. I have a feeling this is Pierce's last season here if we get KD.

That's exactly why were not gonna get Durant. This team needs Oden but If they draft Durant, so long Gerald but Pierce is gonna retire a Celtic.

But your saying we wouldn't draft Durant if he was on the board? Why not? Or did I just misread that? If so, sorry. But yeah I have a feeling GG is gone but we're not gonna get any really good player that we're looking for in exchange for Theo, Gerald and fillers/scrubs

I absolutely do not want Pierce gone.he appreciates the Celtic tradition and wants to be here.Make him the SG if necessary and put Durant at SF, but let's have a vet all-star to show the guys how to win.chances are we couldn't get KG with Paul and JO is a health risk and Pau is not a leader.whom else would be available?perhaps Marion if rumors are true after the Suns 2nd round flameout?C's don't need to get younger, they need to experience winning.

If you were to trade Peirce, getting youth in return is the last thing you need as your team will be constantly "developing" and will never become contenders, you need leadership and key roleplayers not just youth with potential.

No use seeing talent like that rot on the bench, Doc!

I wasnt putting this scenario past me near mid season. MANY teams want pierce, heck even the Raptors could use him. There is a lack of players that can play both forwards and the s guard. I think you guys could get a draft pick and a couple up and coming role payers.

You don't have to trade Paul Pierce if we end up with Durant (knock on wood). What's wrong with having 3 great offensive options (Pierce, Durant, Big Al)? A lineup of Rondo at the 1, TA at the 2, Pierce at the 3, Durant at the 4, and Big Al at the 5 would be a good team on both ends. Even if Durant played the 3 right away: Rondo/Pierce/Durant/Big Al/Perk = dangerous team.

Pierce talks about wanting Kevin Garnett, why not get a 19 year old version of him?

They got young players soon enough to become good players in this league and when Paul Pierce comes back 100 percent with whatever rookie they do end up with, this team is gonna be a good ball club. Its pretty easy to make the playoffs in the NBA, the Magic made the 8th seed and I don't even think they were over .500. So I can easily see Boston making the playoffs if everything goes smoothly.

This thread is really about Durant, not Oden, but either way I'd do a f*cking backflip if we get one. This franchise NEEDS it.

Looking at his game in college and you can see the guy has a very good awareness for where the ball is going to be. Yeah NBA players are bigger but Jason Kidd still averaged 10 boards per game in the raptors series and hes alot shorter then Durant.

As long as we don't get F*cked over and get like the #9 pick I'll be happy. I really don't see Paul going anywhere atleast for the upcoming season. He has the superstar mindset and has gained leadership abilities that have affected young guys on this team. I think you need Paul around if we get a Durant/Oden. Pierce also got a monster contract extension that nobody ever brings up when discussing trading Pierce. From other team's prospectives, Pierce is coming off an injury ridden season with $75 MIL left on his deal.

Durant would be getting blocked out by a 3 (or in this case, a 4), which would make it a BIT harder.
