I actually like Pathfinders. Would be the second team in Portland with an SUV name.

I was going with a name in a similar mindset of the Trail Blazers. I do like it, but it doesn't seem to sound super big league to me. :/

Glad I'm not the one who has to decide on a name.

That should be two words though.

    Path Finders.

    Otherwise, it's a car.

Looking at it as two words, it's pretty bad, LOL.

Rose City Reign is my #1 choice.

If you are going to buy a river terminal, may as well use it, right?

For a WNBA team! Reign is the name of Seattle's women's soccer team and their old women's basketball team before Storm.

It's the whole reason they chose that site as a preferred spot. Logistics in a project that size can make or break you. But it looks as though they might have to upgrade the Hitachi's and fix some of the dock area. Then expand some of the rail issues.

And whys that? The obsession over plurality by some is so strange to me.

I wonder if it's an age thing? I'm old as hell, and grew up with predominantly plural names. Excluding Sox, which is basically plural, Jazz was about the only one around in the major sports.

Younger people grew up with Avalanche, Lightning, Heat, Magic, Thunder, etc.

I always associate it with minor league or WNBA. 7 of the 12 WNBA teams are non plural

Not age. I'm not THAT old at 30.

It just sounds stupid while hearing the Jazz announcers call their players "Jazz men." WTF is that? Or how about "the Thunder look exhausted." It's a singular noun to describe a group of people. As I was saying... awful.

I want my team to be a tangible thing rather than a concept. The worst are in college--the Syracuse Orange and the Stanford Cardinal. The Alabama Crimson Tide bothers me too, especially since they inexplicably have an elephant mascot. Are they just the University of the GOP?

I wonder if the old curmudgeons of baseball tradition would even allow the team to be called Rose City instead of Portland or Oregon?

They could supplement the Max and alleviate traffic by including a free Max ride with every ticket.

Whatever the name ends up being, a lot of people will probably hate it.

Didn't realize we curmudgeons had that kind of pull.

At first blush, it just feels minor league. And I don't really see the point. At least with Golden State, it's an effort to brand the team as representing more than just the Bay Area; Rose City is still just Portland. Yeah, it'd be unique, but aside from that...why? I mean, we could accomplish the same thing by being the "Willamette Valley Wolves" or something like that, and that would even be inclusive of Salem and Eugene.
