Anyone catch Celticsstuff Live tonight? Anyone hear the segment about Gary Tanguay's comments on the radio today? Apparently, Tanguay said that based on agreement with Danny, Doc, and Pierce... if they get the #2 pick (Kevin Durant), they will trade it. The reason: because Pierce doesn't want to wait for Durant, he needs to get bigger.

If that happens, I will absolutely be f*cking ripshit! Even if we got Kevin Garnett, I would be upset. I would be incredibly happy about having KG, but if we get a top 2 pick in this draft and trade it, I will absolutely flip out.

Paul Pierce is my favorite player, I love him, but if he would be keeping us back from getting a 19 year old franchise player, then he needs to go elsewhere. I'm sorry... but I am ridiculously HEATED.

Granted, this is Gary freaking Tanguay, but still. If you get a top 2 pick this year, you keep it. Period.

    Your thoughts?

Kevin Garnett would really help you in the short run, vice versa for Durant. However, you guys would nearly save the Wolves organization, they need somone like Durant. Just hope for Oden I guess. KG, Jefferson, and Pierce downlow would kill people hard. With a nice backcourt via Free Agency, 50 win team?

I don't know, Pierce does make a point, we got to getter better, but I think Durant is too risky. What if Durant blooms into the greatest player in the NBA? Then they'll be sorry. But If we bring in KG, I would be disappointed due to the fact he's what 30, 32? And Durant is 19!

Ugh... I'm sick of all the scenarios. I don't wanna hear anything until the lottery is all said and done. Too many things to speculate about at this point.

June 28th, my friend. June 28th.

Also, I'm cooled down now. I overreacted once again. I mean looking at it all now: Tanguay is an idiot and always has been, the lottery hasn't happened, and this is still doubtful. But one part of me just got pissed as though it's happening. Don't know why, I do it all the time.

Haha. I come off as more pissed off on BBW than I actually am. But it just pissed me off when I heard that, and it's understandable. If this team has a chance to get a player like Durant, you don't trade it.

If it brings in Garnett then it's worth the risk. Otherwise I wouldn't trade the pick for anything. KG would instantly make us contenders while Durant's development would take time. The other option is to trade Pierce and wait, but with all the losing these past few seasons the fans would riot. Getting Garnett for Durant isn't a bad deal at all. If it's someone like Jermaine O'Neal or Gasol then hell no!

Gerald Green I don't see him lasting in Boston either way it works out, so there goes another future wing man that will be a good scorer in the NBA. It would be alot like when it was with Walker and Pierce a few years back, having two superstars that are good for 3-4 years together, and then they leave and they need to rebuild again.Keeping Durant, would give you the core to build around for the future, in Durant, Jefferson, and Rhondo which would be great for a number of years. There would be balance on the court, with someone that can penetrate off the dribble in Rhondo, shoot the jumpers and attack off the dribble in Durant, and someone that can score in the post in Jefferson. Balance like that in the future would be tough to stop. In the short term, Durant I believe will be able to come in right away and produce for the Celtics or whatever team he comes from. He to me, is NBA ready, and will show that from day one. Jefferson will be a year better, Pierce is able to carry the team on any given night, Allen and Rhondo will be good on both offense and defense. Durant will be able to shoot and drive, and is a good rebounder. Then on the bench you would still have Perkins, Gomes, West, Green and Wally coming off of the bench. That is a deep team, with good balance around the court, and the ability to play in a variety of different sets. Provided Doc doesn't coach like a blatant idiot, that is a solid team right away next year, as well as in the future.

Don't get me wrong, having Pierce and Garnett would be great... but for 3-4 years. If you make that trade, you trade away a player who could certainly become a top 5 player in the NBA in a couple years. Trade for Garnett, you have a 4 year window to win a championship. Draft Durant, the potential is unlimited and you have a 15 year window. Hell, Durant is a 19 year old version OF Kevin Garnett.

If I were in Danny's shoes, and I got a Top 2 pick in this draft, I would not trade it.

Wow, knowing that Durant is possibly another-possibly better KG, why trade. Dont quit the rebuilding process now.you could have: Rondo, Pierce, Green, Durant as your franchise mold...that would be great.dont trade it..Ainge would be out in 3.2 seconds after he did it if I was the President or owner.

You forgot our 2nd best player on that list, Al Jefferson. But also, the thing that sucks, if Ainge did end up trading this pick (if it's top 2), he would NOT be fired. He really wouldn't.

The thing is, I love how people think Durant will be the next MJ. Weve seen plenty people like Durant come into the NBA and bust, now im not saying he will, but Im saying, dont tell me this guy is better than KG just yet. Trade him halfway through the season if you like, but I fail to believe into why people would say he would become one of the best NBA players to date.

He might be a bust, it's a possibility, but it's a very small possibility. There hasn't been many players in the NBA as skilled as Durant, that dominated in college, that ends up not being a very good player in the NBA. With Durant's basketball skill, and offensive ability, there is a very good chance that he will become a top player in this league in the future. Trading a 19 year old talent like Durant, that has the abilities to carry your franchise for many years when he hits his peak is a dumb move. If given the oppurtunity to draft a player like him, a sane GM does not pass on that.

Exactly. And trading a 19 year old with that type of ability/potential for a 31 year old star (KG) would be bad, regardless of how good Garnett is now. I mean sit back and think about that... KG is 31 years old. 31. Kevin Durant is 19 and could very well be a top player in the NBA, and he is also ready to contribute right away.

The funny thing about this rumor is that Pierce doesn't want to wait on Durant because "he needs to add weight," yet he wants to trade for a 31 year old who has the same exact body as Durant, and weighs 220 lbs. Pierce weighs more than Garnett. I'm not taking anything away from KG, he's a great player, but I found that funny and ironic.
