If the Warren through 20 games this year is the real version then you could maybe say he's got a good contract. When you factor in defense and previous versions I don't see how you can claim that. He's a chucker on a bad team.
Fultz shot 64.9% on free throws in college. That is typically an indicator that he isn't a good shooter. To me at their best Fultz and Sexton are both penetrating guards with questionable shooting. In today's NBA you can maybe get away with one guard who can't shoot but starting two is tough. They both need the ball in their hands to be effective. Besides, it's the Cavs, other than LeBron when have they ever made good decisions or developed talent that led to winning? I guess you can say Kyrie but they didn't accomplish anything until LeBron came back. Do you have any confidence in them being able to repair Fultz? What does bringing in another point guard do to Sexton's confidence and development? Sure, if all it takes is JR or Korver they should probably do that but if I was them I'd be looking at guys like Korkmaz and Patton to develop too at more of a position of need. I'm not necessarily questioning the interest in Fultz but more so the direction of the franchise. Why sign Love to an extension which kills most of his trade value? I just don't know what they're doing.
You're missing the point. The key takeaway from this is the pathetic return the Sixers should expect for Fultz.
As the third guard off our bench, he'd be interesting to look at. Would also potentially open up the chance at trading away CJ for a wing if Fultz breaks out.
I didn't miss any point. If you read my other post about the Cavs, I elaborated more about what I meant. Obviously if the Cavs don't have to give up much to get him they should do that but that's one of the worst organizations that Fultz could go to. Just because that is what the Cavs offered doesn't mean that is all it would take to get Fultz. Philly still has to agree too.
Philly is in a tough situation. Any trade they make now will make them look like fools for drafting Fultz. If they wait, however, the odds are 50/50 they won't be able to trade him at all. At this point, the "best" possible outcome for Philly would be for the outside specialist to discover that the team DRs are bozos and he has a serious, but treatable injury. If the injury is real, but *too* serious, he becomes untouchable. If they confirm his shoulder is healthy and he continues to claim he is hurt, that is just about as bad.
Elton Brand did not draft Fultz, and the guy who did was ousted in embarassing fashion already. Don't think the new regime cares one bit about saving face
I woulddn't trade SHIT for this: Markelle Fultz’s injury is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, or TOS. What is that? We finally know what Markelle Fultz’s injury is — and it’s not good. Fultz has not been able to properly shoot a basketball since the 76ers traded up to select him No. 1 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, and his agent Raymond Brothers announced the 76ers’ guard has been diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). Brothers described it as a physical injury that “affects nerves between the neck and shoulder resulting in abnormal functional movement and range of motion, thus severely limiting Markelle’s ability to shoot a basketball. TOS is treatable by physical therapy.” (meaning incurable). Fultz is out indefinitely, but Wojnarowski is reporting an approximate three-to-six-week timetable depending on “success of rehab to ease symptoms and pain tolerance.” According to MayoClinic, common causes of TOS include “physical trauma from a car accident and repetitive injuries from job- or sports-related activities.” Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson reportedFultz was in a motorcycle accident years ago, which may have been the cause of his condition. Brothers vehemently denied any motorcycle accident ever occurred, through Philly Voice’s Kyle Neubeck. TOS is more prevalent among MLB players, especially pitchers. Matt Harvey was an All-Star pitcher in 2013 who suffered from TOS seasons later. He opted for season-ending surgery in July 2016 and had a rib removed to alleviate pressure on his nerve. “My shoulder’s dead, my arm’s dead, and there’s no energy there, I couldn’t feel the ball,” he told reporters then. Former Knicks and Raptors wing Landry Fields had a similar and unfortunate situation, injuring the ulnar nerve in his shooting elbow. His career ended shortly after. Fields described his inability to shoot the basketball in an interview with local Toronto media. His issues sound a lot like those Fultz appears to be struggling with
Nah, putting two players in the same back court which in this case would be Sexton and Fultz would be a disaster. They're both guards that need to drive with the ball to be effective and can't shoot. Defensively they'd be fine though.
Matt Harvey needed surgery, Fields had to retire, but Fultz only needs 3-6 weeks of PT??? I feel sorry for the kid, and I'm actually glad for him that it is an actual, definable physical injury - but it sounds like he may still be in denial.
I really don't see why a team would give up anything of true value for him at this point. Damaged goods. Questionable fit in today's game. Might not have the psychological toughness. I hope he makes it. I really do. But I don't even know about giving up a 1st rounder for him, let alone a 1st plus Sauce plus Aminu.
