https://radioink.com/2018/12/02/entercom-pulls-christmas-song-after-complaints/ So one Christmas station has announced that "Baby it's cold outside" will no longer be part of its Christmas rotation due to it's promotion of rape culture. Honestly, this has been coming for quite a while. I'm sure there are other Christmas songs that can be perceived as offensive. What other songs should be eliminated from the playlist for being inappropriate for the modern age?
My first thought is "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer", as he's bullied mercilessly by his peers for physical abnormality, and only cheered when his defect proved useful to others. Why couldn't the other reindeer just love him for who he is? This song supports the idea that people (or reindeer) only have value if they can perform a service or fill a need. OFFENSIVE!!
I like Christmas songs but I like them when I choose to listen to them. I don't want to be inundated in every elevator and every grocery store.
Well, you definitely took this a slightly different direction than I intended, but if that's what makes you happy...
Frosty the Snowman could be seen as practicing Witch Craft. I mean how does putting on a Top Hat bring an inanimate object to life?
Any song about a bearded old man breaking into your house, eating your food and seeing your children when they're sleeping speaks for itself if you ask me...crrreeeeeppppyyyyy!
That's what I'm talking about! "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" promotes stalking and burglary. OFFENSIVE!!
