QUOTE

According to numerous NBA sources, the Nets and Pacers spoke Tuesday about a trade and put the basic components, including Richard Jefferson and Nenad Krstic, on the table. And when neither side accused the other of attempted larceny or walked out in a huff, it was agreed there would be additional discussions after the draft and the start of free agency.
"It was discussed, proposed, and then it was decided to wait until after the first (of July)," said one source who rated the chances of the deal going through as slightly less than half, "40 percent, which is still high" for such a deal.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06302007/sport...erber.htm

If the Nets can get a primetime post presence like him in exchange for Jefferson, do that now. Three years ago this would've been a joke.

I'd do it if they add Grandger, Dunleavy or Murphy into the deal, then we could sign a PG like Pargo or Knight.

They won't add Granger, but they might do Dunleavy or Murphy. Murphy would immediately, with JO, turn one of your weaknesses, rebounding, into a strength. I don't know if I'd give up Williams though.

I don't want to give up Marcus Williams, but then again, what incentive does Indiana have to trade O'Neal now that the coach wants him back? Especially to us?

Howver this is a thread about Jermaine O'Neal, so there isn't a primetime post prescence in the conversation.

The defense is far worse and there is no transistion offense.

I dunno... If I were the Nets I might say no. Krstic isn't God's gift to the NBA, but if he gets healthy he's probably in the upper half of scoring bigs in the league and they've never really played much with the big 3 and him healthy.
While eveyone wants a "post presence" people overlook how hard it is to guard a team when both it's wings are really top flight. Bring Moore back, let the younger guys provide some depth, and maybe use the MLE to get a swingman who's a little scarier than Antoine Wright (to other teams) and they look pretty good.
