Wait, aren't you still a nube on this board? I didn't read any drivel from OregonLive. That parade was a blast. Glad someone else here has those memories.
and I knew when I gave you that name you'd be a tough son of a gun! It's ok though, it's the first sound out of your momma's mouth when she saw you..! In her honor, you became...BARFO!
I was about 9 years old for the '77 championship. My family loved the Blazers so I remember growing up listening to Schonz on the radio. My Dad took my older brother and I down to see a practice during the championship series and I got autographs from Bobby Gross, Luke, Lloyd Neal... but the biggest memory came from Chocolate Thunder himself. Darryl Dawkins looked down at me and said, "man, you couldn't be any cooler if you were an air conditioner." Strange thing to say to a little 9 year old tomboy, but I never forgot it. I grew up playing basketball and regularly went to Parkrose basketball camps and even went to a few Jack Ramsay camps at Willamette Univ -- those were so much fun! As a 5-2 point guard, my "career" ended after high school; Parkrose girls team back in the late 80's were always on the periphery of the tournament. But this old lady still has handles; I captained my women's team to a rec league championship and a couple near misses a few years ago in Hamilton, ON Canada. I live near Toronto now. Blazers will always be my team, and I cannot fathom having a better player and leader than Dame wear Rip City during my lifetime.
Wow! Very, very interesting backgrounds and experiences. For those of you that read each reply there will be a test Friday which will count towards half your grade.
