Before the draft last year, there was a lot of talk that we were going to draft John Collins. But we traded two picks to pick Zach Collins at 10. John Collins went to Atlanta at 19.

John Collins is averaging 19 pts and about 10 rebs a game.

Seems to me we sure could use a beast PF right about now.

    Thanks Olshey.

I feel that Zach Collins, against all odds, will become the better player.

We cant have the more NBA ready PF that plays terrible defense and puts up numbers on a bad team. Dammmmit!

John Collins is the 1st option on a tanking team. Zach Collins is what, at best, 4th in the pecking order for shots for us? John would not be putting up those numbers for us.

As I said elsewhere, John was a player, Zach was a project. Not so much the wrong player as the wrong priorities. John would have helped the team, but Zach might have made Olshey look smart.

Even if Olshey was right about Zach's potential (increasingly questionable), the current coaching staff shows no sign of unlocking it.

maybe, but Zach has a good defensive foundation already and it might be easier to develop offense than develop defense. Of course, I haven't seen enough of John Collins to know about his defense. But yeah, his offense looks pretty good. He's sporting a 20.6 PER and a 62.7% TS%. Those are impressive numbers, and he's a much better rebounder than Zach

I think the perfect draft could have been Portland staying where they were, drafting John Collins at 15, Kyle Kuzma at 20 (or OG Anunoby), and Josh Hart at 26. Jarret Allen at #22 is looking fairly solid as a C too

of course, that would be a perfect world and if that was a case I wouldn't have 2 ex-wives, wouldn't be near-sighted, and I'd have about 10 million in the bank

back to the real world, I'm not as big a fan of Zach as many are but he looks like he's going to be a pretty solid player if he can build his core strength and develop a better shooting stroke. Not sure that will happen under Stotts though

that cuts both ways though. If Collins is 1st option then he is facing 1st option defensive resistance every night and posting extremely efficient numbers. His TS% is nearly 63%...that's real impressive, and he's only a couple of months older than Zach

I feel it in the air tonight as well. And once that comes to fruition, it will be another day in paradise for the Blazers.

I'm convinced Zach will prove @Stevenson wrong next year as our starting PF when Aminu gets paid this offseason from another team.

John has only played 15 games this year so far too. Zach got off to a hot start and had a higher TS% and PER at least through the first 10 games or so.

We definitely drafted the correct Collins.

He's not being assertive and passing up open shots. He has zero rhythm right now.

Meyers' habits really are rubbing off on him, unfortunately.

Where have I seen Zach as the number 1 option...? Oh yeah, Summer League. Overwhelming dominant? I would say, not really. Zach might end up to be alright in the 2020s, but people have to at least admit there's no comparison at this point, when we need production. But at least we ended up with the better Curry!

    Woulda coulda shoulda.

    Not.

We were not in need of more offense when we picked zach. We needed a defensive presence and he has brought that so far.

John Collins would have about the same stats as of Zach if John play with us. Due to 2 different scheme that both teams play. John offense opportunity wouldn't be there with us as it in Atlanta. Only stat I see John might be better rebounder than Zach. I see Zach not be all star player but a guy that score between 12-14 points a game 7-8 a night and blocked 1-2 and steady defense.

Zach is not even close to reaching his potential but you'd be hard pressed to find any differences right now between Zach Collins and Maxi Kleber. Clones.

And I like Kleber. He's a sneaky good trade target.
