I think the idea that all these guys should just go hire their own staff and trainers and coaches is "ok", but also can be dangerous if it's not in sync with what his actual coaches want from him. If that makes sense. I think the onus should be on the team to find big man coaches. That's my opinion anyways.
From what I've seen I haven't seen you be anywhere near as critical on your show as you were before it became a post-game show, or on Rip City Radio. Its noticeable to me, and maybe I missed all the shows where you were, but I think I've seen enough to say that it seems like your holding back compared to stuff you said in the past. I havent seen you heavily challenge Olshey or Stotts... but I dont blame you. Not saying it's why Isaac Ropp got fired, or Talkin Ball got taken off the air, but its reportedly a pattern, and you know what Im talking about. Interpreting something that way, whether you agree or disagree, isnt making anything up. That's my interpretation. Shouldnt you, with your role, be above cussing at someone on a message board over this? As well as personally attacking them saying they're trying to "make stuff up about me to bring themselves up", because they interpret what you say a certain way? Yikes. Also, dont you think it's weird to stalk a forum for any mention of you, and only post on that forum to go at people?
Yet, last year you said you didnt think the Blazers should let him walk if he got an offer sheet of more than $12M a year. That's a quote I remember distinctively.
This dude got a job at BlazersEdge, a TV show, the Blazers Pre-Game & Post-Game Show and has tried to put people straight on numerous occassions... ...all in 243 posts. That's what I call efficient!! I wonder what his TS% is?
I can understand that but the off season is when you make big gains in your game. If the Blazers do not have a Big man coach on staff this summer Nurkic needs to take matters into his own hands. The guy has all the talent and size to be one of the top 3 or 4 centers in the league. But it's gonna take work. Personally i think he can and will work hard to be better. Look at how hard he worked to get his weight down and look at how durable he has been since?
Man i get in so much trouble doing that. Seriously i can say some shit at the worst time. I wish things came out my mouth in "Green Font".
Nurk obviously is putting in work over the summer. Whether it's the huge weight loss two summers ago or improving his free throws like this past summer.
Good to see you posting here Dan....for any poster here to criticize someone for being critical is well.....hilarious...I enjoy your work..good to see you working in the field...there's not enough Blazer content for me as it is and more is always welcome
He did indeed. I would like to see some other things worked on as well. First and foremost would be keeping the ball up.
@Dan Marang just be yourself man. You shouldn't be more or less critical because someone is telling you that you are too critical or aren't critical enough. As the "stats guy" you are more than capable of proving your points that way.
You responding to that made me go look. At this point he has improved 12 percentage points this year. 63% to 75%. That is a huge improvement!
Yup, he went from bad to pretty darn reliable for a center. Edit: He is also getting to the line a decent amount.
drink 2 quarts of Raineer Ale fast, on an empty stomach....you'll have lots of green font coming out of your mouth shortly afterwards
All good man- no worries. I believe in Nurkic and I hope Portland is buoyed by the recent success with him as the secondary playmaker. I agree that he's the 2nd most important player for them with Dame as a clear number one. I've also never really believed in the Dame/CJ backcourt- I think they're great individual players, but I think the ceiling is right there. That's nothing new though or anything no one has said before. I've just been camped on that corner a little longer than others lol. As for that particular game- if I remember roughly what it was - the criticism was directed at Nurkic's struggles with McGee and other ridiculously long centers like him. I'll see if I can go back and watch a bit to find what you're talking about though. I appreciate the feedback and the clarification man. One thing I've learned is how to qualify things when talking about stuff like this. I'm not innocent of it by any means- but I get a lot of talk about the Blazers all day every day. So when I see someone say I've always been critical of Nurkic when the contrary is very much true, it's a little like "wait, what?" But hey, it's all good man and thanks again.
