Ive seen him dunk once too. Haha.I think he can be a 12ppg player in this league, but hes really not athletic enough to be a real scorer. But with the right player with him, he can shoot lights out.
Find me a better young center than Oden..no? Case closed. The Blazers have a true center that has "dominant" written on his forehead. Only a select few teams in the NBA can say that. And I mean a SELECT FEW, less than 5.And wasn't Brandon Roy rookie of the year, heads and shoulders above all the other players in his draft class?Lamarcus Aldridge is a very good player and if given the minutes next year will be very good.So you have a good 3-player core to build around in Oden, Aldridge, Roy then very nice players to build around those 3 with like Jarrett Jack, one of the best young PGs in the league. Oh yeah and they still have Randolph, who is fairly young and a legit 25/10 guy as well as a pretty good Joey Pryzbilla. They need a good quality PG and a small forward and they're set.

No I dont think Portland has the best young core(even after getting Oden) I still belive the Bulls have much more potential. Portland still is inexperienced at PG(the most important position although jarret jack could become solid) and I dont see Roy or Miles on the same level as Gordon/Deng. Really the only position they have us beat at is PF/C but I belive Tyrus will be at least as good as aldridge although Ben Wallace probably wont be better then Oden for very long but I think in the coming season he still will be. Overall The Bulls have more emerging talent then any team right now and their potential is showing more and more each season and it's not homerism its just plain fact. If you dont believe me then just watch next season.
This thread has a ton of ignorance in it already.Chicago has the best young core. No questions asked.

The biggest knock on Sergio coming in was that he sometimes plays too out of control, but he certainly corrected that this season by limiting his turnovers and running the team well when he was in there. Portland management/fans are very high on him, I can see why.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BrewCityBuck @ May 26 2007, 02:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Outside of Dwight Howard, nobody on that list is all that impressive. Trevor Ariza is a nice player, but he's not consistant enough. Jameer Nelson should not be a starting PG, Milicic has done little to develop his game, I like JJ Redick a lot but he's nothing really special.</div>Trevor Ariza consistently brought defense and energy to the table. He has the ability to be a lockdown defensive player in the future, as well as a good slasher, and a surprsingly good offensive rebounder. Jameer Nelson should be a starting point guard, and does the Magic well. He is good off of the spot up jumper, can create his own jump shot, and can get into the lane and hit the three. He might not be a great playmaker, and might not playmake for us alot, but we really don't need him to be. Running out motion offense without him holding the ball for long periods of time is the better way for us to win. As for Milicic, he did alot of improvement this year. One of his biggest problems offensively was that he had good moves, but tried to do them so quickly, that he would loose control or throw the ball at the rim to hard. This year he improved his post movement, took it a little bit slower and got better at putting up more accurate shots. Milicic's mid range shot got better, he can hit it pretty well these days. His shooting mechanics got better this year also. He used to arch his back on free throws, and while shooting. As everyone knows, when you arch your back while shooting, it throws off your shooting motion. Now he doesn't do that, keeps his back straight and his mechanics are much better. He is also a decent passer, from mid range, to the low post. He got better at his passing, and reading passes. He still has work to do, but he showed alot of progress this year with his game. He really did a good job of developing his game further this year.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (austingriz @ May 26 2007, 03:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>He can become a playmaker. Believe, my second team is Orlando and Ive watched him more than you. The only thing keeping him back from being a playmaker are stupid mistakes..which you see less and less through the seasons. And Nelson does usually find the open man, but hes a scoring PG more than anything. With some better coaching he can become a good PG in the NBA...and he already is a solid PG.If you watched in game with Milicic in it with some PT, he could average something around 12ppg. But he doesn't get PT for some stupid ass reason. Brian Hill is gone, and you will see next season that Darko is a very capable player and has very nice moves around the basket. No to mention hes 21, but thats around the age most players get drafted. Hes going to be a very nice player at the least in the NBA.</div>Jameer Nelson will be a good point guard, and is a good point guard. He sets up the offense, sends the ball in motion, and then goes into motion himself. However, he will never be a huge playmaking point guard. That is not the type of point guard he is, and it's not the type of point guard he will be. He doesn't try to monopolise the ball, and he doesn't need to, as we don't have the best chance in winning that way. As for Milicic not getting alot of playing time, there was a reason for that this year. He got more than 20 minutes of playing time a game, which was good for a developing big man. Even though he showed alot of progress this season in his fundamentals, and straight playing ability, his knowledge of the game still needed work. They had Battie in the game to show Milicic where on the floor he needed to be for certain plays, and what he needed to read better when the ball was not in his hands. The best thing for him to do, was watch Battie do it for stretchs at a time, and then go in and try it himself for stretch's at a time. The coaching staff was working with him well, and had the right approach to playing him.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Zards @ May 26 2007, 05:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I honestly thought that Orlando should have taken Ronnie Brewer, but they went with Redick, instead. Slashing, and decent defense, which we had with Ariza, Bogans, and Hill. Redick was the best shooter of the draft class, and what we need is shooting. Because of his injury early in the season, and teams not practicing a whole lot during the season to keep fresh, Redick was slower and not ready for the game this season than most other rookies. With an off season to get his shooting strength down, Redick will be more than ready to play next year.
I know that Milicic was getting like 10-18 mpg at the beginning of the season, by the end though he was getting around 25mpg and was probably averaging around 12ppg then. I dont think Jameer will be a pure playmaker, but I think hes very capable of getting a solid 6apg and develop a game to where he can make plays. But he is a scoring PG more than anyhting.

He also played more, because he made alot of improvements, and to smarter from sitting and watching Battie play alot. It helped him understand the play book more and made him a better player, sitting at the beginning of the season. With as little as he played the seasons prior, he was pretty much like a second year player this past season anyways.

They are not slashers, and all they really do is just play solid man-to-man defense. Ariza hardly looks for his own shot, and Bogans only plays 15 mpg and shoots 40% from the field. They are pretty much a couple of Antoine Wrights for this Orlando Magic team. Grant Hill is 34 years old, he does not have the lift to go drive into the lane and finish at the rim. He settles for the jumper more than ever now, because of his ankles. Ronnie Brewer is a finisher at the rim, with a variety of offensive skills. He's more talented offensively than either Ariza or Bogans. Why would you need a legit 3pt shooter when you already have Hedo Turkoglu, Jameer Nelson, and Pat Garrity.

Garrity is old, and is not that good of a 3 point shooter or player anymore. He only went in for hustle and energy, every once in a while. So only having Neslon as a decent shooter out there, we needed, and need someone that can hit the long range shot. Redick has maybe the nicest stroke on the planet, so he was a much better choice than Ronnie Brewer. As for Ariza and Bogans, both are much defensive players than Ronnie Brewer, and can play excellent defense. Ariza turned into a good attacker and slasher, he gets to the rim when he tries to usually, he just has a hard time finishing at the rim because sometimes he has a hard time grasping theb all. Ariza is just as good of an athlete, is fast, can jump out of the building. Considering he is about the same age as Brewer, he is just as good as Brewer, and does just the same things as Brewer. Putting Brewer out there just leaves them in that same boat. As for Hill, he wasn't to bad at attacking the rim. Hill set his drive off of his mid range shot, and got to the rim rather consistently throughout the year. He was never a huge dunker in his career, even when he was younger and got the rim. He was actually one of our faster players for his age. As for that lift at the rim, Hill was never a big time dunker, or showed a huge blastoff even in Detroit before he got hurt. He was more of a layup guy at that time, that could switch directions to finish.
