Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? I just don't get it. Sure they got the #2 pick and will get a fantastic player in Kevin Durant. But Seattle just isn't a very good all-around team. For one, they are losing Rashard Lewis, so with Durant they are probably getting the same production and will be pretty even there....The PG play in Seattle is pretty average. Earl Watson gives it defensive balence but Luke Ridnour is nothing to write home about. In the post they have Chris Wilcox who is alright and a bunch of young bigmen who don't have many skills. Seattle to me, just doesn't have the defense to really improve much next year, unless they do something suprising this offseason.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? I agree. Unless they get Rashard or and equivalent level player they're not a playoff team next year.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? So your basically saying that Kevin Durant is not a franchise player. Which is why the whole organization of Seattle drafted Kevin. Because everyone said hell be a franchise player along with Ray Allen. I think they do lack some big bodies to knock around inside.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? Is a Bredan Haywood for Wilcox trade possible? Is that a equal trade salery and skill wize? I don't know.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? I really dont know anybody who feels any different. All this means is Seattle is going to be...well still a shooting team with a awesome player. They need to trade Ray Allen(which they probably will IMO) and build around Durant. But I still see Seattle being a lotto team again next season.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? If they keep Shard, and it it Shard/Allen/Durant they be a hard team to play. But since it looks he is leaving maybe they do sign and trade to atleast get something back.

I think Durant's production next season could be around what Rashard's been doing the last few years, obviously Durant's going to be an elite player, but it would be tough for him to be a Rashard Lewis guy right away.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? Durant will come in and probably average 20ppg, giving what Rashard gave...atleast in the stats. Durant will probably make more mistakes, not defend as well...etc. But as good as he is, I think he will bring about the same in his first season as Rashard did last season, basicly what BCB is saying. Of course Durant will become alot better probably..but he'll just be a average star his rookie season..lol.

Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? Nope I completely agree. It's a shame to see Durant go to Seattle because he's not gonna really make as big of an impact as he would in other situations. Durant going in is basically like having Rashard Lewis, so it's like they stayed par. The thing about Durant is it makes Seattle relevent again and they have a franchise player to build around. Too bad they have awful management and the team wll probably be sold anyway.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? Speaking of Seattle, does anyone know what is going on with the franchise? I kept hearing rumors they were going to move because they couldn't find a new place for their stadium or something and now that everything has calmed down, I didn't hear what the final decision was. Are they still moving or are they staying?
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? I thought I heard about a month ago they were moving for sure. But havent heard anything else about it, I think unless they overhaul completely they will be moved. Ray Allen HAS to go for some young talent. Maybe they can get Randy Foye and a pick or something from Minny.

Last I heard was that the owners were still trying to get the citizens to approve the proposal and the spike in taxes, but I really don't think that will happen. They are trying to make every possible effort to remain in Seattle, but if it doesn't work out and they exhaust all their options then they will move. The top destination for the Sonics would probably be Oklahoma City, with Vegas and KC possibly added to the list... but they would most likely move to Oklahoma City.As for the original topic, I agree that Seattle won't be too good next season, but this is a big step forward for the franchise. It may possibly even help them remain in Seattle. Kevin Durant himself will not be able to do much for this franchise... they still have a long way to go for them to be a playoff team out West.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? Im not hyped up on Seattle at all. They will still be a sub-par team, even with Durant. Considering they are losing Rashard Lewis, they will only get a little better. Durant will ultimately be a way better player than Lewis, but what I mean is, he wont be much better than Lewis in his first year.

Are they still moving or are they staying?</div>I am pretty sure they are staying in Seattle. They interviewed David Stern, during the Mavs/GS series I think, and the reporter was like, "Oh yeah, we heard Seattle's moving!" David Stern was like, "No, they aren't. Where did you hear that?" "So and so said he was going to move them." "I'm sure we'll have that worked out by tomorrow. Seattle is staying."It was something along those lines. Stern sounded like Seattle was not going to move, even if they wanted to.edit: here we go.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Flipped to the Dallas-Golden State game on ESPN just in time to catch Jim Gray interviewing David Stern. Most of the stuff they talked about was pretty conventional (wow, Joey Crawford is done for the playoffs? Who knew?), but Gray got a shot in at the end when he mentioned a report that the new owner in Seattle, Clay Bennett, said that if the team moves, it will likely be to Las Vegas. Stern's reaction?"I don't think he said that."Gray started to explain that it was a published report (Wikipedia says Bennett said this to the Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau, but no link is provided; in fairness, it also says that he included Kansas City as an alternative, which Gray failed to mention) when Stern cut him off."I think he'll withdraw that."Now, that second quote is heavily paraphrased, but the word that jumped out at me was "withdraw". Sounds like Clay Bennett might be making a trip to New York in the next couple days to speak with the commissioner. It will be interesting to see if he stands up to Stern and maintains that Vegas is a viable destination for the Supersonics or if we end up seeing a "clarification" on the earlier comments. The best part of all this was Stern's emotional state throughout. He went from reasonably happy (good game, unobtrusive interview) to mildly annoyed (Bennett wouldn't go behind my back, would he?) to outright angry (he did, he went behind my back!) to nearly-homicidal (I'm gonna kill Jim Gray if he says another word. Seriously. Start talking, Walton). Great stuff.</div>
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? All I can say is, Vancouver Grizzlies!EDIT: Vancouver Supersonics!
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? haha, they will probably go to Oklahoma City...Vancouver has a history of f-ing up teams :thumbdn1:
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? Well, think of it this way. If Seattle can make a sign and trade deal with Rashard Lewis for someone else, then they have had an outstanding offseason. The season hasn't started yet, you can't write off Seattle for not making the playoffs yet. I'm not hyped up on Seattle, but I think the best has yet to come.
Re: Am I the only one who isn't hyped up on Seattle? I'm not hyped on Seattle, but I think they have the opportunity to improve here. Marginally, of course, but they do have the chance to improve. Knowing the kind of managment in Seattle though, they won't make the effort to improve like they could. I understand what BCB is saying, Durant is about the same as Lewis, but they do have the opportunity to either sign and trade him or pick up some other guy off free agency, no? Maybe I misunderstand the situation, but I can definitely see them being a playoff team in the near future. If Ray Ray stays healthy for a while longer, Durant flourishs, and they pick up a couple new guys, it could be a good team really quickly.
