Re: Media Bashing on "Tanking Teams" Why is it that Boston and Memphis over the past few days atfer the draft have been ridiculed for tanking while all the other teams that tanked were ignored? Nobody talks about how Milwaukee tanked and how Atlanta tanked and how Minnesota tanked and Charlotte. It's absolutely ridiculous. Portland honestly was the only team at the bottom that didn't tank at least a little bit.Memphis clearly did it for most of the season. Besides Gasol at the beginning of the season they had no problems and were suddenly a hard to beat team after they clinched the worst record in the league. Boston clearly did it at the end of the season in the last few weeks. It was evident from the Rivers/Gomes comments and Rivers poor rotations. I know I know they tanked. I know Memphis did and I know Boston did so don't come in here and bash me for this.But Milwaukee especially..look at this:April 3, 2007April 4, 2007Redd didn't play against Boston because of a "sore knee" same with Brian Skinner and Mo Williams. I forget why Mo Williams didn't play but Brian Skinner didn't play as well because of a "sore knee."How ridiculous is that?And I have YET to hear them mention how Milwaukee tried to lose on purpose on "PTI" "Around the Horn" "Jim Rome Is Burning" or any of those damn shows over the past 4 days they've been talking about it. Is there a reason why all the media talks about is how Boston "tanked" and Memphis "tanked" but they fail to realize the crap that went on with Milwaukee, Atlanta, Seattle, Minnesota, Charlotte or any of the other tanking teams? If anybody could clarify that would be great.

Boston is a big east coast team, they were a top 2 team, along with Memphis, so outside the top 2, those teams evaded media persecution. Honestly, the US sports media is so lazy and ignorant, thats the big reason why so many teams have not been outed for tanking. The PTI guys are not NBA guys and don't know much about anything outside the headlines, the ATH guys are a bunch of newspaper guys and are largely lazy and based on what I hear on the show, don't know much about players or what games. Sports media has been turned into News media, short tidbits where nothing is detailed. Essentially dumbed down sports.
Re: Media Bashing on "Tanking Teams" I blame all tanking teams. I never ridiculed certain teams, I just had a dis-like for all of them. It just bugs me how management is so bent on getting money from a huge advertising type guy like Oden, that they will have the players suffer. Trust me, those players dont want to be out their losing on purpose. I would get sick of it. I hate losing.
Re: Media Bashing on "Tanking Teams" There is no reason to tank, anyways. As we all saw in the lottery, just because you tank to get the pick in the draft, it doesn't always work out. There are 14 teams that all have a chance to get the top pick. They're not all equal chances, but you never know who's going to get it. For example, this year it was Portland, and they had a 5% chance to get the top pick.

They had Redd/Mo on one night, off the next. On another night, then out for season. They kept going on and off (off every time they played a bad team).
Re: Media Bashing on "Tanking Teams" Ive learned to just deal with it. Personaly, I know for a fact Memphis wasnt tanking, I dont know about the Celtics or Bucks or whatever. But nowdays people think since your the worst in the league, you did it on purpose..which is one of the dumbest concepts carried by the NBA. Yeah theres probably a couple teams like that..but we all arent like that. Some teams actually have integrity. We're just gonna have to deal with it.

I don't know about Minny or Milwaukee, but Charlotte beat some good teams that you wouldn't think they could beat.
