You can call it whatever you want. I call it heading off an issue before it starts.

Doesn't have anything to do with taking criticism in my opinion. His reaction had nothing to do with himself.

Really poor form from Stotts to call Quick back into his office to complain about "unfair questions".

What?, so accountability is not allowed - nor is questioning the regime?
C.J. IS having a down season - but we're not allowed to question it?
Where is the transparency? Stotts taking a leaf from the draconian, no questions/accountability Olshey style.

Just another demonstration of incompetence from this mediocre front office.
Really can't wait for this unenjoyable incarnation of the team to be dismantled. . .

That's why we're all frustrated...waiting for Stotts to adjust his system to lower expectations on McCollum, who is less talented than Stotts' system assumes. So far, Stotts has no ideas.

So when Quick asks negative questions about McCollum, he's really asking them about Stotts' talent to teach and make adjustments.

Stotts had the choice of blaming himself, or the player's effort, so he ran off. Can't blame him. He's just not a talented-enough coach to squeeze more out of McCollum, as Olshey expects, providing him with no scoring Small Forward. You can't get blood from a turnip.

Even though he missed a game tying shot last night, CJ has been hitting big shots in our wins. And Turner had season high 9 assists last night.

It does. That and taking responsibility for the failure of his team. They play his system which isn't working. He is still using a bench lineup that isn't working. (He did replace Stauskas with Layman I will give him credit for that.) The bench is weak and until Olshey gets help, Stotts needs to stagger starters better. When his team loses he has to be ready to answer for it. His reaction last night shows Quick was right, and he didn't want to answer to it because he would have to take responsibility.

Don't confuse number of possesions with time of possesion. Klay touches the ball on many plays that are designed for him to catch and immediately shoot. The stat about the relative number of dribbles bears that out. When CJ gets the ball, he more often has it for several seconds.

Unfair line of questioning? He literally fed you two questions before that made a yellow bring road for the one about how CJ was contributing. If you say, "Yes" to the previous question, how the hell is the next logical query unreasonable? It's not like he said--

"C.J. shot hasn't been falling, is his suck-iness affecting his overall ability?"

"So he can be sucky in other ways?

"Would your describe the ways in which he sucks?"

Isn’t working? We have a decent record including three straight OT wins with one in GS!

Stotts responded to the first question. He agreed yeah CJ is in a slump he hasn't been shooting well. After the followup question Stotts should have responded, CJ needs to keep shooting. He will eventually come out of his slump. Slumps end. At the same time, I need to help CJ find other ways to help the team while he is in the slump. Its that easy.

this was never meant to directly compare the two at all. just to point out quick's continued stylistic fault. drama. if he had said cj's assist averages are down from a year ago and shooting worse, no problem. stating he only has 5 other games with more than, while providing no perspective i find fault. style brah. quick drama through insinuating he should have more? more than who? i added a west coast shooting guard that is similarly struggling but not changing his game to increase assist total.

Maybe Stotts could see that the questions were going to eventually result in him saying something negative about one of his players and he didn’t want to throw CJ under the bus. Terry didn’t want drama and tension around the team like any normal coach. If you are being interviewed and feel you are being baited into saying something you don’t want to say you pull the plug. We are getting JQs side. Wonder that Stotts would say. It’s that simple.

We have a decent record. Yes, we had three straight wins. Yes, including GS. But, lets not pretend there aren't problems with the bench. Sometimes Curry has a good game. Sometimes Meyers. Sometimes. There is no cosistency to the bench. They average 45 points a game and often don't reach their average. The Starters need more help from them.

Well, we disagree and the only one that knows for sure is Stotts. He has never come across as the type that is concerned with his reputation, but one that will publicly stand up for his players.

Sometimes a coach needs to call out a player. A coach needs to hold himself and his players accountable.

In public? Disagree. Totally. I mean, if you don’t give a shit about the player or the ramifications of it sure.

Stotts is not the mouthpiece of the disgruntled fans....he's a guy already thinking about the next game. I doubt if he's given any of that interview a second thought...he knows what CJ is going through..doesn't need to explain it to Quick or highlight it in the nat'l media

When I was just out of college I worked for a team in the media relations dept. I sat there next to opposing coaches night in and night out and listened to their answers from media guys after losses. I can’t believe more didn’t snap. Also, today’s media would cringe at what it was like to grill an unhappy Jerry Sloan, George Karl, Pat Riley or Rick Adelman. Jesus. Makes Stotts look like Mr Rogers.
