It is amazing to think of what is going down here. People from all over the area surrounding New York can't not afford to live in the City. But by virtue of working in the City, they will be paying taxes to support the healthcare of all the people that live in the city anyway. Those living in the Subway, under the Subway, under the bridge, in the abandon building.... Man what a system?!?!?
But, this will fix so many national problems. Ship all the jobless, illegals and homeless to NYC. With so many of the tax payers moving out, there should be plenty of housing available for all the newcomers.
When Grand father immigrated through Elise Island, he spent about two weeks in the City, so the story goes. Then he proclaim the place unfit for a man to live. So they got on a train to come to Oregon. And that was that, err so the story goes. I thought of him on each of my visits to the City years later. Smart old dude he was.

The article says that illegal aliens account for 300,000 of the nearly 600,000 uninsured people in NYC. They currently get free medical at the ER, at government-funded clinics...which is why we can't afford to provide healthcare to all American citizens. Before you can have a single-payer or socialized healthcare for all that will be financially feasible, you need to eliminate illegal immigration. The countries where it's been mildly successful have been small, manageable countries with no significant legal immigration and nearly zero illegal immigration.
We could start with the Trump properties. Think they'll take the homeless or Black-Americans or Jews or Latinos or the unemployed or anyone not a WASP?
That's funny, I never see them at St. Vincent hospital or OHSU, two places I frequent in addition to the VA. They must all be going to NYC.
I know their not Latin Americans but I don't know whether they are legal or not. However, I can say they almost certainly would have migrated across our Southern border.
I think I was still unclear. Too much beer and fentanyl the night before, I guess. What I meant was that most illegal immigrants are supposedly from South of the border which would make them virtually all Latins and presumable would appear as such. I saw no salient Latins presuming no undocumented immigrants. I hope this clears things up rather than makes them more muddy than before otherwise I'm going to have to take some acid and magic mushrooms to clear my head.
