Vince Carter for Zach RandolphIm not sure about the salaries, but they cant be too off so Portland can add another player.Vince Carter may leave soon, so do a sig-n-trade with him and send him to Portland for something New Jersey needs...a low post scorer.Portland drafts Oden, and they have a playoff lineup of: Jack-Roy-Carter-Aldridge-OdenI havent read anything about it at all, but IMO it makes perfect sense for both teams.
It doesn't make much sense to me for the Blazers. Vince Carter is a FA next season and it would likely be a one and done situation. If the Blazers trade Randolph, they probably want a player that will stick around longer.
VC is also a SG. Ive never seen him play SF before, hes not a swingman because he hovers around the perimeter too much.
First off, I said a sign-n-trade, meaning he will extend for a number of years meaning he wouldnt be a free agent next year.Vince Carter can, and has played small forward before. Of all people, I thought you would know that Raptors giving the fact he played the 3 in Toronto with Mo-Pete at he 2. And even if he was a "SG", a 6'6 SG can easily play SF...This is a very good trade. And the whole point of doing the trade with Vince is because hes going to leave probably....wouldnt make sense to trade RJ.Very good trade.
Portland already has Brandon Roy at the SG position. Vince Carter being the starting SG would only slow Roy's development. A 6'6 guard CAN play SF, aka Jerry Stackhouse, but they only play that position in certain situations because they need to. Besides, Carter would be irritated by some of the taller SFs in the Western Conference, such as Marion, Kirilenko, Bowen, Artest, Battier, etc. Even if he does get traded there, Carter would immediately request a trade or something out of Portland right when he gets there, I'm pretty sure he would not like to play for Portland. Portland has an improving and still developing young core and Carter would just all take touches away from them.
Carter, Roy and Oden an get Portland to the NBA Playoffs.Carter has played SF in this league before. Btw, Marion, Bowen, Artest are all 6'7...one inch is NOT a big disadvantage.Size is very much overrated..especially in means of a inch....This is a good trade people.

It's because they all have bothered Carter in the past. They have irritated him and made him shoot jumpers every time he gets the ball. Here, I'll show you:http://www.nba.com/games/20070122/NJNSAC/boxscore.htmlVince Carter: 8 points, 4-11 FG, 5 TOs guarded by Ron Artest http://www.nba.com/games/20061227/HOUNJN/boxscore.html Vince Carter: 12 points, 4-16 FG guarded by Shane Battierhttp://www.nba.com/games/20070310/NJNSAS/boxscore.htmlVince Carter: 17 points, 4 TOs, 0-5 3PT FG guarded by Bruce Bowenhttp://www.nba.com/games/20070309/NJNHOU/boxscore.html Vince Carter: 14 points, 5-17 FG, 1-5 3PT FG, 3 TOs guarded by Shane BattierThis is just proof that Vince does not match up well against these guys. And, you can see why I wasn't talking about height difference, because that doesn't mean anything. I was just talking about how rough these guys play, and rough/dirty isn't what VC is accustomed to. There aren't a lot of these defenders in the East..
Those guys are all elite defenders!!! They are going to be on him no matter what position. Your arguement isnt going to go anywhere.two inches is so overrated. Just because your taller doesn't mean sh*t. Carter can play SF, and not to be mean, but if you dont think a 6'6 highflyer can...your not very bright when it comes to basketball. Hell, Marion is 6'7 and plays PF...and does it good. Elton Brand, Carlos Boozer, Zach Randolph are all shorter than most PFs...that doesn't stop them. So please try not to argue a matter of inches. Vince Carter has played SF before...and he can do it again...easily.
