Who do ya'll think the Hornets should pick? Nick Young? Thaddeus Young? I like Derrick Byars out of Vandy; he seems pretty NBA ready and would fill our SG/SF need.
I think Thaddeus Young would be a perfect guy for our SF spot. He can drive the ball real well and he's a decent defender out on the perimeter and in the paint. If he were a few inches taller he'd be a PF. If Desmond Mason departs, Young would quickly fill that void and play great in a Hornets uniform.
I like Nick Young for the Hornets. He can cover that shooting guard spot for the Hornets, and let them gamble on Peja staying healthy this year. Nick Young has the best mid range game in this draft class in my opinion, can hit the mid range from around the pick, as well as set up his own mid range shot. I'm a big fan of his, and think he would be a great pick.
I think 13 is a little too high for Nick Young, especially in this draft, where guys like Al Thornton or Thaddeus Young could be there. I like Nick Young, he's a good talent, but I wouldn't take him over some of the more talented players in this draft.
I would take Nick Young over Thaddeus Young, because while Thaddeus is the better athlete, Nick Young is the better basketball player with a better shot and offensive understanding. He is the master of the mid range out of this draft, as well as more likely not to be a let down than Thaddeus is in my opinion.
whichever guy we choose is going to have to beat out Devin Brown for the starting spot. I'm not saying Brown is a definate starter, but he'll want to be in our lineup. The same thing happened with Chris Paul in his rookie season, he outperformed Speedy Claxton in the summer league and training camp and got the starting job. Both Youngs would have to really prove something this summer. Between the two, I think Thaddeus has potential to be great, but does not have much experience. Nick Young played enough throughout his first three years in college to have decent experience. I like this debate, I can't wait until the mock draft gets to the Hornets.
I don't think Thornton will get much of a chance to be effective in the rotation, given that Stojakovic comes back in good form and that David West continues his scoring. Don't forget about Simmons and Hilton at PF/C.
From the majority of the mocks I've seen, the Hornets are projected to select Thaddeus Young. I think a lot of people are in love with his work ethic and athleticism which translates into him receiving a high ceiling. I'd like to see us add another pure shooter since Peja is injury prone, but I think we are more likely to give Marcus Vinicius a chance than draft one.

CB you have a point that the Hornets should trade down, but I doubt they will. As much as I hate it, they'd probably settle on Thaddeus Young if he's there, hoping that his ball handling would improve enough. To me, its either Nick Young or Derrick Byars, and they could stand the risk to gain extra picks and still get one of them.

It will help to provide him more driving lanes to the basket for kick outs, and dish offs to David West down low. When Peja went down last year, they desperately needed someone that could hit some shots, and provide a scoring touch with their shooting as well as driving ability. Desmond Mason last year was able to drive to the rim, but he couldn't shoot, Devin Brown couldn't shoot very well, Rasual Butler was inconsistent at best. They had nothing, which I feel took away from Chris Paul and David West alot, when they was on the court together. Getting that scoring touch, can make their duo better, as well as give Chris Paul more options, to make this team, that much more dangerous.
