Re: The notion that Greg Oden can't become a big scorer. I think it's ridiculous. I hear people in the media say that he will never be a great offensive player. Did these people not watch the championship game? Do these people realize that it takes centers a little longer to develope? Do these people not realize that a lot of centers didn't just dominate their freshman year of college? Did these people know that Hakeem Olajuwon came out of college a relatively raw offensive player? Do these people know that he's only 19 freakin years old? How can a player with Greg Oden's size, athletic ability and competitiveness not become a 25ppg scorer? I mean seriously, whats holding him back? He's only 19, he has so much to learn and craft, the TrailBlazers staff is going to be working with him. He's simply too good not be a great scorer.
Re: The notion that Greg Oden can't become a big scorer. Every great center thats come out of college has been a little raw offensively, and it's true with Oden too. He'll score points just because he's a huge guy, but he's a hard worker and he'll do what it takes to get better, whoever says he won't be dominant on offense is crazy..

I don't think SIZE really matters. Ask Shawn Bradly, how tall was the freaking guy? What a bust. But I'm not comparing Greg or Shawn Bradly here. Oden is much better and will do much better in the NBA. Oden just doesn't have a good offensive game. Yeah he can back a guy down in collage and all of that, but this is the NBA. How will Oden fair against Shaq? Duncan? Bosh? Ben Wallace, and the list just goes on and on. Hes going to be out west too, so hes gotta deal with Tim Duncan, Amare, and more. Like I said before, hes gonna need to get some help with his offensive game so he can become that 25 points, 10 or so rebounds per night guy. He can be, but hes gotta work on becoming better offensively.

Nobody comes into the NBA as the perfect player. Also, Shawn Bradley was a bad example because Bradley was 7'6'' and lanky. Oden is about 7'0'' but he's also VERY athletic, very strong, can finish with both hands, and he DOES have great work ethic (unlike Shawn Bradley, Michael Olowokandi, Kwame Brown, whoever you want to mention). There is no doubt Greg Oden will be an outstanding player on both ends of the floor. Also, people... Oden DOES have a decent post game. He's not as bad as CavsRules makes him out to be. He gets outstanding position (not only in the post, but on the boards as well), he has a nice looking hook shot he was able to use at the end of the year, he can finish well with both hands, he has an OK drop step. I'd say Oden is better in the post than Dwight Howard was at 19, no doubt. Hell, Howard still gets by on athleticism/power alone. Oden will be fine.

I'm not making Oden sound like a bad offensive player, what I mean is that he needs to work harder then others to get a good offensive game. I watched him every chance I get because I love OSU, I seen him player and I know his game. I'm sure others including you have seen his game, and know how good he really is. Hes great, outstanding, amazing skill type player. Their is no doubt hes gonna be great, but the only problem is his offensive game. I can go on and on but I'll just stop. My so called, "Point" will be proven when the season starts. He wont do well against Bosh, JO, Duncan, Shaq, etc. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BrewCityBuck @ May 28 2007, 02:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>You cut out my other parts....I was wrapping 'size, athletic ability and competitivness' in one.</div>I know, but I was just saying that Size doesn't matter.

Oden will not be a Tim Duncan clone next season at age 19, but it's the fact that people keep questioning his ability to EVER become a good post player. That's what this topic is about, not his production right off the bat.
Re: The notion that Greg Oden can't become a big scorer. Will he ever be a good post player? I can say it's a safe bet to say he will. But not this soon, and thats what I'm trying to tell everyone.

Re: The notion that Greg Oden can't become a big scorer. Well you misunderstood me then. But I do know it's gonna take a little bit for him to get used to the flow of the game, and everything a rookie needs to know, blah, blah, blah. But another part is his offensive game, it just needs a little work. Thats pretty much all I'm trying to point out.
Re: The notion that Greg Oden can't become a big scorer. Oden has some decent post moves. He's already more developed offensively than Dwight Howard, he has a nice little jump hook and he can back you down because of his strength and dunk on you like Howard does.
Re: The notion that Greg Oden can't become a big scorer. Guys. for a freshman, he had some amazing post moves...I know he can't shoot that well, but that's alright. He's strong as a bull, he's got good inside touch......I don't think he'll be Shaq in his prime offensively, but he'll average about 22 along with playing amazing defense
Re: The notion that Greg Oden can't become a big scorer. Stat wise he was about the same as Shaq, Ewing, and all the great centers. His great work ethic was exposed this year, he shot the ball 63% from the free throw line left handed. I could see him averaging 25-26 ppg in his prime definitely..
