I'm sure you saw it but Christian Wood had something like 36 points and 23 rebounds the other day in a G-league game, pretty impressive.

And his own draft picks like Trent.

The board always said that we were strong at guard and weak at forward. Then in one month, Olshey pushed out Davis (and Papagiannis, a former mid-#1 like Baldwin and Stauskas), added Stauskas, Simons, and Trent, and kept Baldwin (I admit he subtracted Napier). You do the math.

Yes, I've been surprised. Maybe it's because he's playing forward there.

Someone on this board is a big fan of his and was pushing for Portland to sign him before he got his deal with Milwaukee. He can play. I’d take him over Biggie for sure.

Last year wasnt the arguement that after Napier we didnt have any other worthwhile guards to play? Because in the previous draft he took Biggie and Zach, he already Had Ed, Meyers and Noah and Nurk!
Then he went over board this year with Guards, not disagreeing there. I guess I just think he’s always struggled at balancing the roster, and not so much at “loving” guards or forwards.

I was reading up on what Bucks fans thought about Thon requesting a trade. It was almost universal that they like Wood but he provides very little defense and that's why he isn't playing more in the NBA.

    Simons 8 minutes 3-6fg 3-3ft 2 rebs 1 block 3 TO 4 PF 9 points.
Due to foul trouble he only got 8 minutes. But he shot better in the 2nd when he score 7 points in 2 minutes.

    Simons 11 minutes 4-9fg 1-1 3 pointer 3-3ft 2rebs 1 Blk 5TO 5pf 12 point.

Turnovers and foul trouble has plagued this game for Simons.

This is great news, IMHO. Learning how to play defense without fouling is one of the things I want Simons to learn, and to not take for granted.

His biggest problem right now is his strength on the. defense side. Players are so much stronger then he use too. All those turnovers was off getting the ball stolen away from him.

What I like about him is the speed of the G league doesn't get to him. The plays he makes are at the same level of the guys he's playing. Strength can be gained from training, but to be that proficient at the pro game at such a young age shows talent.

I am not saying he don't have talent I am saying he not strong enough yet. He probably 2 years away on strength to help us.

Yeah. Not much way to get around that. Still, he would probably at least get some game time by mid season of next year. Not like the very little he is now.

Evidently (according to Holdahl) both will be back with the team this week. The plan was just a temporary stint. The Blazers didn’t hold any practices because of their busy schedule so those two went down to the g league to get playing time. Will be interesting to see what happens at the deadline. I hope they stick around, but they could also represent value in a trade. Both had successful stints down there.

I'm not sure spending an extended period in that league is beneficial anyway. The games are borderline unwatchable. It's just such bad basketball. Summer league looks better.
