Rich Paul just guaranteed there will be a franchise player tag in the next CBA.

I do t think it's that bad. Seven 1st round picks with a RTS? Not bad.

Not when his handler Lebron is VP of the players association.

The goal ought to be to pair Dame and AD at all costs.

Knowing the whole "Davis and Kyrie can't be on the same team" thing...if you're New Orleans, do you consider taking Kyrie as part of a Davis deal? Kyrie/Brown/Williams and 3 2019 firsts?

Future first round picks won't make fans come to the arena. New Orleans struggle to fill up their arena as it is, imagine what it will be like if they are left without any good players at all.

They have to get some talent now. That's why Boston's deal would be good - they get either Tatum or Brown, and 1-2 picks in the upcoming draft plus a few immediate picks. That's at least something to sell to your fans, if you end up going into next season with Tatum/Brown, Jrue and three draftees (NO will probably own a very high pick now, and Kings pick will probably be about 12-13, plus wherever Clippers land) then maybe you can play fun basketball and bring people to your house.

You know what could offset not having fans for a while?

    A low payroll.

No. What's the point? Kyrie would leave this summer. No point for Boston to trade him either instead of waiting until the summer.

Dude, there won't even be a team in NO if they do that trade you suggested.

I think the owners will flex their power on this one. Aside from LA, I'm not sure if there are many teams that would oppose the rule change. I doubt the rank and file players would risk a prolonged lockout over it.

The CBA expires in 23-24 season. LeBron will be washed up by then.

The point would be to get two young good players in Brown and Williams, and 3 first round picks, and either not have to take back additional long-term salary, or have a shot to keep Kyrie. If they wait until this summer, they'll have to take back additional 2019-2020 contracts to match the outgoing salary. Doing the deal now avoids those additional salary commitments.

Why would that stop them from doing that trade? If they want to move it, they'll move it. If not, they wont.

What's the point in taking Kyrie? Literally makes 0 sense not to ship him off to a 3rd team for young assets. Using Kyrie as a salary dump essentially would be ridiculous.

You talking about Boston dealing Kyrie within the next 10 days? Or NO sending him off if they took him in a Davis deal? Either way, who's giving young assets for Kyrie now, knowing that he's gone in FA this summer?

For all the talk of winning, the obvious ultimate play for AD is to get to LA. It's going to be Ball, Kuze and 1st rounders.

This does mean good news for the Raptors if the Lakers are not in the hunt for Kawhi. They just need to keep him from the Clipps.

Also probably keeps Boogie away from the Lakers next summer.

These are three trades that we can take something away from:

    1. Kawhi + Danny Green for DeRozan + Poeltl (former 9th pick) + TOR 1st
Top 5 player in the league and salary filler for a bonafide, but flawed all star caliber wing plus a young big who was a recent lotto pick while also clearing Green's contract for a year.

    2. Paul George for Oladipo + Sabonis (former 11th pick)
Top 10 player in the league for what became an all star wing plus a young big who was a recent lotto pick

    3. Chris Paul for Eric Gordon + Kaman + Aminu (former 8th pick) + future lottery pick.
Top 5 player in the league for a borderline all star wing and a former lotto pick and a decent big man in Kaman.

It depends on what New Orleans wants to do. Do they want to stay somewhat competitive? Or do they want to completely blow it up and clear all their cap?An equivalent offer to the ones above from us would be:

    CJ + Collins + Aminu + 2019 1st for Davis + Moore

Low payroll won't keep the team in New Orleans.

Its a solid deal, but I wonder if their move will to shed mass salary and sell the team from the ownership side of things. Either way, the Pelicans should wait until the summer to make a deal when Celtics can fuel a bidding war.

    Blazers need to get Mirotic.

....which is why the timing of this news reeks of collusion between Lebron and Rich Paul.
