but what would your position be though? Would you want to hold out for the best offer even if it means waiting till the summer when many more teams will likely be involved, or would you make a panic deal to get the trade done before the deadline in several days?

Well Id personally wait it out. I dont know whats all going on in the NO front office though. They may feel its best for them to get it done now, so by FA and the draft they have a clearer plan. You could argue if they wait til this summer, the draft and FA will have passed and they wont have any direction because they dont know what the deals for AD will look like.

Like I said Id wait it out and I think they will too.

The article I linked to quoted the Pelicans as saying they aren't in a hurry and willing to wait for what they think is the best offer. They still have time and no reason to panic trade.

I know that. I also think no matter what my actual intentions were thats the smart thing to say publicly.

I think we both believe they’ll wait.

Yet according to some, there are 29 teams that could make a better offer than we can. [eyeroll]

FWIW I agree with you. But, I don't think NYK makes sense - if I were them I certainly wouldn't make that trade. Maybe if they had a decent team they'd be plugging AD into, but they don't so they'll just be a worse version of NOP (albeit in the East).

Maybe NY does it with the 'promise' that Durant is coming in the off-season.

Yeah, I was simply evaluating the offers themselves in relation to the Pelicans. You're right that the NY one makes little sense for AD.

It's crazy how poorly LA managed the last few yrs. These are their lottery picks the past 4 yrs:

    2014- Julius Randle (#7)
    2015- D'Angelo Russell (#2)
    2016- Brandon Ingram (#2)
    2017- Lonzo Ball (#2)

All of them have been underwhelming. Their free agent signings have included: Deng (4yrs/72 mil), Mozgov (4yrs/64 mil), Clarkson (4yrs, 50 mil). Their record the last 4 yrs has been 99-229. They haven't made the playoffs in 5 yrs and are in danger of missing it for the 6th consecutive year.

Yet they sit here in a position to land Lebron and AD. Just not fair. Jeanie Buss was on Lowe's podcast last week talking about legacy and Laker pride and what not. Made me sick.

I think Randle and Russell are actually having pretty good seasons finally.
It's interesting. I think people forget how young and raw these guys coming into the league are now. Look at Noah Vonleh. Sometimes takes these guys a few years to blossom. I understand if you are a top pick, the expectations are higher, but a lot of times fans can be so unrealistic.
Look at a lot of guys on here. Actually thinking Simons and Trent were going to contribute THIS season. A lot of grown ass men in this league who have put their time in just waiting for these rooks/fresh meat to take the court against them.

Yet Magic let Randle walk and traded away Russell and bad mouthed him while using him to dump the Mozgov contract. He did get Kuzma in return but it was still a blunder.

What cracks me up is they kept Kuz over Randle. Sure, Kuz is cheaper - but he's not better. Neither are great, but I'd much rather have Randle. And it's not like he got overpaid.
    Ditto Ball/Russel.
Then they have Brandon "Wiggins" Ingram.
What an utterly mediocre collection of "talent"...and they seem to keep down-grading. If patterns persist they draft a shit SF and trade Ingram.
