Nice pick up as Hood helps fill a need and we didn't mess with any of our core.

Rodney Hood is a serious upgrade over Baldwin or Stauskas…..I like this move plus the free roster spot...Jake simply took Nik's job here

I think Thon Maker has "Olshey Move" written all over him , i'm just not sure if the Bucks are still (too) high on him as they were a year ago.

You get two playoffs to try to make it work with AD, and try to get him to stay. That's much more than you get with CJ. It doesn't work and AD leaves you have to build around Dame / Nurk, which you're gonna have to do at some point anyway. CJ only has one more year on his contract than AD does, no guarantee you keep him either. If it's going really bad next year at this time the Blazers could trade AD to try to recoup assets.

My hypothetical is based on him leaving. Now you are changing the narrative to fit what you want though.

Our Core isn't good enough, you want to win a championship at some point, then you're going to have to give up part of it to upgrade... You implied Dame might leave if the trade for AD happens and things don't work out, he might leave if they don't too. I'm saying at least you're bringing in a guy who he is on record wanting to play with.

"Your hypothetical" is entirely your narrative. If he leaves after a year and a half I'm ok with it. Rather have him for 2 playoffs than CJ for the next 3.

What if the Pelicans said they would only do it for McCollum and Nurkic and they send back Davis and Solomon Hill? I didn't see the Davis, Jrue core do much either and that would be similar to what we would end up with and then even less when Davis walks.

Of course it is. I'm the one that said it, but it's also based on some facts and a strong possibility. You keep saying for this year and next, but I have been on record that Pels won't likely deal till the off season so that leaves one season.

I don't think our core will ever be good enough. And Olshey may know this. I think he's into whatever moves will keep him his job. He's playing the odds. Almost every small GM is. But you are going to be going up against a team of three maybe four All Stars and HOFers every year in the Western Conference of the Super Team Era. Olshey may not be shooting for a NBA Finals. He may be shooting for a WCF. That way if the Blazers fire him. He'll be the GM "that took that overachieving Portland team to the Western Conference Finals." He'll still be viewed as a competant GM and control the narrative. He wants to be in a situation where he isn't blamed. That's why he is paranoid about any negative media.

But that's not what I said, I said McCollum as the piece they wouldn't give up. McCollum and Nurkic that's a bit of a different story.
I'd probably still do it, but I wouldn't be upset if they said no at that.

I don't think they'll move him before the deadline either. If they could get him now for CJ and a couple 1sts and whatever makes salaries match up I'd be more than ok with it, even if he chose to walk in a year and a half.

Glass half full vs glass half empty.

Both scenarios have risk. We've already seen what the Blazers have as currently constructed. I'd like to see what tgey can accomplish with the elite level tallent. I'm tired of the status quo.

Blazers have recently reminded me of the Grizz when Gasol & Conley were a bit younger. hey were perennial playoff teams, but never serious contenders. They've the core together and have never been able to become elite. They always thought they were better/further along than they were.

That should make a big difference - but some Blazer fans are desperate enough to support taking major risks.

If the team is going to take a risk, AD is on the short list of players that might be worth it. Paul George did change his mind about staying in OKC. :dunno:

AD is friends with Dame and says his legacy is important. He and Dame could forge a legacy together here in Portland. No, it’s not as sexy as LA, but he, Dame, and Nurk (if he weren’t dealt) would be a serious lineup. I would not be surprised if we were able to get AD to re-sign, assuming we can make a bit of a playoff run.

Speaking of getting past the GSW, here's a question: out of Green, KD, Klay, and Cousins, how many do you think will be in a Warriors' uniform next season?

I'd suggest a poll, but I am getting tired of all the complaints everytime somebody starts a new thread.

The old brigade will be there next season - Steph, Klay and Draymond. Zero chance that Boogie is there next season, about 30% chance KD stays IMO.

We talked about that in the Podcast....that GS could very well look different next year. You add Davis to the Blazers and I think they get to the WCF. Next year? Who knows with Durant possibly headed to NYK and Cousins/Thompson's future up in the air.

That is why I believe you go after Davis NOW while you can make 2 legit Playoff runs with him....and who knows how far Portland could go next year. I believe it would be entirely possible they get a solid FA this Summer for cheap to come play with Dame/AD/Nurk.

I do like the Raptors' display of courage this past summer.
"We have good players, but we're stuck at 2nd tier while our good players are getting older. Lets risk it all and if it won't work - fuck it, just rebuild sooner rather than later".

    No thanks.

After I saw the way that dude fights, I just can’t take him seriously.
