And I see O'Neal is more talented but I just don't see that as much of a stepping stone towards being a top team in the NBA. I think your last statement agrees with my last.Lakers need to do more than that to be better.</div>Yeah, I agree... O'Neal isn't much of a step up from Odom. You either lose Kwame or Bynum in this deal, it sounds like... Kwame isn't very dependable, and Bynum is good but not ready to carry the load at center. Basically, by trading away Bynum, you would be putting some faith in Mihm, who hasn't done anything that I can tell. And you think Lakers fans were pissed this past year about injury? I mean really, they're trying to trade for JERMAINE O'NEAL.I kinda think that the Lakers would be setting themselves up for disaster with that trade, unless they got some other stuff as well (I'm not sure they have the talent to do so).

With Kwame and O'neal down low, they'd be an elite post defensive team. Odom's good and all, but his game just doesn't blend with Kobe's. He likes to get the ball and drive, and can't really play that well without it. Kobe has proved that he blends extremely well with a post presence. Jermaine would be a huge upgrade.Oh and Mihm was IMO a top 12 Center in the league last year before his injury. He'd be great coming off the bench if he can recover.
Lakers are just trying to show Kobe they are giving an effort. I have no idea if any of these rumored trades will actually go down. This Kobe drama is just not worth discussing anymore. The dude changes his mind every second. Hell, if I was Los Angeles I would just dump him to get it over with. The fact that he was even thinking about demanding a trade, showed his true colors.
Murphy can be traded with another teammate by time the trade would be able to go down, I think that only last like 90 or 60 days or so. As for the Lakers, I think it would be a really good deal if they were able to get JO for Odom and Bynum. It would make them much better defensively and actually give Kobe a post player to throw it into. Odom is good but doesn't fit that well with Kobe and Odom isn't as good defensively as O'neal. LA would still need a point guard but that's what they got MLE for. Or a sign and trade Mihm for Banks, I think Banks would fit pretty good in LA. For Indiana, I wouldn't really like this at all unless they got back Farmar and LA's pick or something like that. I don't think Odom and Bynum are enough.
