<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Code Blue @ Jun 1 2007, 03:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>It seems like everyone's biggest concern is the transition from the college to the pro game, but I'm not worried about that. After watching Billy Donovan do a fantastic coaching job at the University of Florida, I have complete faith in the man. Other great coaches like Larry Brown have had success on both the college and pro levels, and I don't see any reason why Billy Donovan won't do the same. Simply put, the man is an excellent basketball coach, and he was the best candidate available.</div>Other than Larry Brown, can you really think of any other coaches that have went from the college to the Pro's that has been good? Tim Floyd was a very good coach at the college level, and was not good at all as an NBA coach. Rick Pitino was/is a great college coach, that had great programs at Providence and Kentucky before going to the NBA. He runs the same fast paced offenses, and game plans as Rick Pitino ran, primarily because he played basketball for Pitino at Providence, he was an assistan coache under him at Kentucky, and was mentored by Pitino. The biggest thing about Pitino is he did the same thing, leading Kentucky to two straight National Championship games(only won one of those), then went to the Celtics. So watching a college coach work magic at the college level doesn't mean they are going to be great at the NBA level. So considering that Donovan's coaching style is like Rick Pitino's, compared to a Larry Brown's, I am very skeptical of how good he is going to turn out at an NBA level of coaching, and I do not like the idea of being the ones to test it out.
Florida is going to be pretty bad next year....Good pickup though..He's still very young, but he's a great coach...He gets his players to play the right way.
