This is fucking stupid. It's pouring rain outside. So much for snowmageddon.

I didn't grow up with Terry Kath era Chicago. I grew up with Peter Cetera era Chicago. It wasn't until I got older and dug out my dad's old vinyl record collection that I realized how good they were. But when they were on the radio when I was growing up they were trying to be Mike + The Mechanics. I OD'd on that ballad shit a long time ago.

I live in co for a few years. Colo springs. Pueblo. Ive also lived in upstate ny.
Both places typically get hammered in the winter.

The difference between here and there is the dry vs wet snow and the temps.
Over there its dry and sticky because it doesnt melt and refreeze because The temps drop well below 32.
Here we hover right at 32. It snows. Then melts, then freezes turning to ice. Then it snows again and melts and freezes again. Layers of ice is what we get more often than a nice dry snowfall. Back east people have no clue how much different it is when the snow melts partially and then refreezes at night.

Coming from here, i never needed chains or studs over there. The snow grabbed my tires very nicely compared to here.
Combine thatcwith thecwest hills and its no joke around here. Less snow but much more dangerous to drive in.

And then the millioms of people who transplanted here and dont know how to drive in this stuff thinking its the same as back east. Yes when you spin your tires here, you are just forming ice under your tires. Duh.....

That is one thing that people who aren't from here (or lived somewhere where the land is flatter or the snow is different/less icy) don't get.

Yeah, people do seem to be idiots when it's snowy, but remember the famous scene from a few years ago where cars kept sliding into other cars over and over, and people were like "lol, Portland/Seattle in the snow. National emergency!" ?

What the video didn't show, iirc, that was a hill. Hills + snow + ice + snow is much harder to navigate than flat land and small changes in elevation.

On top of that, like you and someone else said, it's a different *kind* of snow. Remember a few years ago we had a "snow event" (wtf do we call them that anyways?) where it was a more crystal type snow? It didn't compact as much and therefore wasn't heavy/slippery. I believe someone said that is more common for the kinds of snow they get in the middle of the country BECAUSE of the Coast Range/Cascade/Rockies effect on the amount of moisture in the snow storms. When you are getting the first part of the storm (as Oregon/Washington tend to do), they're wetter and that makes a difference.

It would have to be a snow bot or minime with the level of snow we got.

maybe 1/4th of an inch at my place and it's not really on the roads. I guess it all depends on location, but it's sounding like over on this side of town it's just going to be cloudy most of the day and this is all were gonna get, according to my phone it's supposed to rain some tonight and tomorrow. Gonna be really hard to make a snowman out of this.

I have a huuuuuge layer of 1.5 inches of snow. Now it’ll be freezing for two days and it’s an ice rink.
