CJ has been on fire. You don’t take him out because of a bad start. By the way, Paul George missed 11 shots. Bench him!!
Nurk only played 21 minutes because of foul trouble. 11 shots in 21 minutes is reasonable for our third option.
Just putting this out there....the Warriors dynasty started with firing Hand Down, Man Down and hiring broadcaster-with-no-coaching-experience Steve Kerr. They're a Kyrie prayer from being 4-for-4 in Finals since then.
Disagree with this whole post. Harkless doesn't give a shit like 75% of the time. Layman goes hard 100% of the time. And he's more skilled and clearly has more BBIQ. He needs more reps and his defense will improve. Play him 30+ mpg. I'm done with Moe. And ET
Layman is on such a nice stretch, why Stotts refuse to start him is beyond me. And I don't get why Hood showing up and playing 22 minutes is affecting minutes for Collins, Meyers, Turner, Harkless, Aminu and Curry? It's not that hard unless Stotts is making it that difficult. It seems like Stotts is almost purposely making it difficult. In his defense, Olshey didn't help him out by bringing in a rotation player and not sending one out, but still, play your best 8-9 players and be done with it.
Aminu is a good defender in the same way Nate McMillan was a good defensive coach (when he was our coach).
That highlight package didn’t even include my favorite play from last night when he attacked a closeout and dished it to Nurkic. That’s a part of his game we haven’t seen much of yet. He can make plays for others.
It's prolly politics and keeping guys engaged. Harkless in particular has had confidence issues when he got benched and lost minutes. Jake has played 29 mpg the last 7 games. That's good. No real need to start per se (although it would be nice), but he's getting starter minutes. (moe is at 23 mpg in that same stretch)
Layman's minutes are about fine.... it's as @BonesJones brought up, it's when he plays. If he doesn't start, he is subbing in and then playing a really long stretch of minutes. That is tough to maintain energy for. Last night he came in midway through the 3rd and I think played the rest of the game. That is tough to do. Start him and he gets normal breaks between rotations.
Its a big difference playing second stringers versus first stringers. He did not do much during his short stretch starting. Not to say he might be better now but starting players are different in quality than players coming in off the bench.
I know you didn't explicitly state that starting players are BETTER than players coming off the bench, but it's implied. And that's crucial to my response: Except in Portland!
Well, we do have a player on the bench who is an 18 mil ET who I wish would go home to another team and clear his contract which is a boat anchor.
It's reasonable if he was shooting 45%. It's not reasonable if he's shooting 82% like he was. Remember, you play the game to win. Not to be reasonable. Nobody could guard Nurk. It's a sorry excuse.
