So, I’m a teacher but am taking this school year off to take care of my boys. I love spending time with them, being there for my oldest to pick him up from school and help out with homework, etc. I feel like we have struck a good balance at home with my wife working and me taking care of most everything else. We still have a few years before my twins go to school.

Financially, it would be very hard for us to keep this up beyond September. With that said, have any of you had experience working from home? I would love something where I could set my own hours but I really don’t know where to even start. Money isn’t the first priority here, but am looking for a way to still be here for my kids but bring in some money whenever I can. Any thoughts?

Envelope stuffing used to be a thing but that was a decade plus ago. Not sure if it is still out there today with increasing email vs snail mail.

With my schedule I end up having about 3 month off a year and absolutely love it. Can be Mr. Mom around the house. Be there for the kids. When they were smaller, I always loved volunteering in their classes. Good luck to you, hope it works out.

Couple of things....when I was working overseas and our son was a toddler my wife started a home daycare and it was very profitable and also good for my son as an only child to have kids around in his formative years....another choice would be in home care for a disabled person....both fields are in demand..I have another friend who dogsits for people and walks dogs regularly for a living..does ok.

Try buying clearance crap at WalMart and selling it on Amazon or something similar.

There are schools that allow their teachers to teach online. Maybe you should look into that.

    Tutoring is another option.

Many corporations are now allowing their customer service/tech personnel to work from home, however you usually sign into a Que. and are monitored as to how many calls per day you're taking. So, if you are looking for more flexibility to create your own hours, each company would have their own policy. Some allow flexibility.

Uber and Lyft seem to be jobs that pay ok and allow flexible hours.

Man I would totally drive for Uber in my offseason. I looked into it when I didn’t have anything for 3 weeks....... they said the HCP’s car was too old.
