OT Play by play guy suspended for "racist language"

Where we differ is intent. He was a beast, and the commentator referred to him as one. Like the wrestler King Kong Bundy. He was referred to as that because he was an enormous human who was a beast in the ring.

Pointing at a black man, or large black man and saying "look at King Kong over there" is racist.

Describing a 6'10" 240lb black kid who just dominated the paint, grabbed the final offensive rebound and made the winning basket by saying he was "King Kong out there" was a compliment

You don't get it. You're redeeming grace is that you don't realize the harm those remarks do to a Black person.

I don't know all about it. Guess what, NEITHER DO YOU. Also, you don't know a thing about me. I've had foster children who have dealt with racism. I grew up in north Portland when there weren't many white families. I was singled out and beat up as a young boy because of my skin color. I know this because I was told this.

 

He knows the ass end of racism. I too have not experienced racism but I've experienced bullys and that's what racists are.
You are obviously not a conscious racist but please be aware of the damage done by thoughtless language.

 

You speak in generalities. You mean that theres racist white people that call yall monkeys and they're the only race that does so (or does it the most?), but you speak in generalities. If you dont understand what I mean by that than theres nothing more I can say to help you.

 

Nah, it's impossible for a white person to see racism, or feel the affects from it. Therefore they know nothing.

 

Yes, this is exactly what this forum needs. More posters calling other people racists and then more posters getting banned because they get upset over it.
