Folks should have support insects but nothing that won't fit in a matchbox...maybe make an exception for small ant farms that one can carry around but if you want to cuddle for comfort....just remember a cockroach will fit in the palm of your hand or your vest pocket and can also live off the glue from a postage stamp for months! Dogs inhale food and quite a clip

Can we ban the people that need them instead?

That pit bull that bit the 5 year old at the Alaska gate at PDX, should have never happened. I traveled by air for 4o years and never heard or seen something that preventable happen.
I hope the mother sue's the owner, Port of Portland and Alaska Air for negligence.
Watch PITA come to the dogs defense. They care more about viscous animals than harmless kids.

There are many out of control dogs out there...I'm a hiker and have had plenty of encounters....had to protect a quadriplegic I took care of from a vicious dog on a walk a few times in his neighborhood...it's owner apologized saying the wheelchair must have freaked his poor dog out...honestly, I'd have killed the thing in another 5 minutes had the guy not showed up finally.....and I love animals generally speaking...humans...not so much

    1. PDX will let a pet owner walk their dog letting it use the walkway as a toilet walking from gate to gate. The workers are unable to do anything about it with the exception of cleaning up the feces. Absolutely disgusting.

    2. Dogs are animals and will react accordingly. Some are nice and some are not. Do not assume all dogs are warm and cuddly. And parents need to be aware of that as well. Do not pet dogs that do not know you. In general, I abhor irresponsible animal owners rather than the animal itself.

Ban this except for extreme cases. A non verbal kid in a wheelchair or something.

Im a animal lover for sure but a Pit bull on a leash, with a lady in control, in an airport? Love dogs but wouldn't think twice about killing one in that situation.

It's the most ridiculous right Ive ever heard of. Small dogs in a crate under the seat can even be a nuisance, but a Pit Bull on a leash on an airplane?

Its hard to imagine a pit bull not being wacko nervous in a airport concourse or on a plane with 180 passengers. Passengers that spend good money to fly safely!
I cant imagine the fear that struck that little girl. I hope they put the dog down.

I first read of airplane emotional animals about 3 years ago. Before, all animals traveled in the cargo section under the passenger floor.

Apparently the rich wives of airline owners think the universe is centered around them.

People who barely tolerate dogs outnumber people who love dogs.

Yes. If you need an animal with you when you fly for emotional support, you just shouldn't be flying.

I was quite afraid of flying when I was young, but luckily I learned about the emotional support bloody mary.

The passenger needs back support, not emotional support...
