One day judging others with mental medical conditions will be treated the same as those who judge minorities for their skin color.
This thread is a piece of shit.

I could be wrong, but I think the judgment is toward those who abuse the accommodations made available to those with mental medical conditions, rather than to those with the conditions actually needing accommodation.

I confess that I know nothing about the validity, necessity, and history of the concept of emotional support animals, so I'm not willing to comment on the topic. But I understand the frustration about them.

I'm not judging people with mental issues...I am however judging people with pet dependencies that really are just milking the law for those who actually have this medical need....in my view most don't have the need from what I've seen....the grandchildren of the disabled man I worked for for years all applied for these care dog cards for their pit bulls and none of them were mentally ill...they just wanted to take their dogs everywhere with them.....rules like this tend to be abused …..as far as the thread being a piece of shit....I usually avoid stepping in shit if possible...particularly shit that compares comfort animal rules with racism

You people have no right to judge these people.
Not everyone needs to pay 5k for an animal for a medical condition.
Be upset at the people who aren't responsible owners and leave it at that.

Oh right maybe people with mental issues should just take ritalin or happy pills.
Because popping pills has SOLVED ALL THE WORLDS PROBLEMS.

    Screw you people.

I'm trying to tread lightly because this is clearly a sensitive subject for you. Can you help me understand what part of my posts raised your ire?

If the dogs are biting people, people step in their poop on the plane, etc, we are entitled to judge them. Most of them are scammers. And if you can't go outside without an emotional support puppy, stay inside or in areas where pets are allowed.

An actual service, dog, fine. Whatever. That's all good. But having a pet allowed in places where pets aren't allowed to make yourself not depressed? Fuck that.

people don't have to pay 5k for a comfort dog...you can make your own dog qualify for free...medical insurance companies may try to sell you one for 5k

Yes, they even caught a lady trying to come into the dialysis ward carrying a dog. I've spent a total of nearly two months in intensive care because of a serious infection I contracted undoubtedly in there so I'm really sensitive about that. I don't know why they allow anything other than a seeing eye dog in the hospital.

comfort dogs aren't the end all of mental illness in my view and if they are in some cases...the cards are getting passed around like Halloween candy. Is it therapy or a pet loophole...valid question...getting a comfort teddy bear used to be the practice or a stuffed animal...doubles as a pillow and doesn't eat bark or shit...and I love my granddawgs very much but wouldn't take them into a restaurant or library for example. I believe there's a time and place for "comfort pets"
