You have to trade Kevin Garnett and start over. You don't have the pieces to get good veteran help for KG and you aren't going anywhere with him in town. Holding Garnett in Minnesota is setting the organization back and it is also "wasting" Garnett's prime years on a below average team. They need to get rid of Garnett, go young, and for God's sake... fire Kevin McHale.

I'm thinking it from a different way. Although I am interested in looking into who the Wolves could get for KG, I highly doubt McHale will pull the trigger. Here's what I'm thinking:

1)Trade Mike James- I don't know how much you could get for him, but I heard rumors about him going to Detroit for Nazr Mohammed. That way the Wolves wouldn't have to worry so much about drafting a big man at pick 7.

2)Trade Ricky Davis- Ricky has tons of talent when he plays smart. One problem with that. He never does. He should have some value but I wouldn't expext alot for him, maybe just a very solid point guard like a Mo Williams at best, but Mo has too much value most likley.

    3) Dump Troy Hudson- I don't care how, just do it.

    4) Draft someone with star potential- Take a risk. Don't go for the guy that will probably end up just being a role player in the pros (Joakim Noah). Go for a Mike Conley Jr. or a Corey Brewer, or maybe even Yi Jianlian.

We probably will end up not doing any of this though, I've gone through too much dissapointment over the recent years.

OK so you want to trade mediocre veterans... to get what? Different mediocre veterans? That's pointless. The only way the Wolves can truly move forward is if they trade Kevin Garnett. If you trade Ricky, James, Jaric, whatever... you won't get anything that will honestly take you guys anywhere. As tough as it is to let go of a guy like him, Garnett has to go and the Wolves have to start over.

I agree with you. Sadly I don't think McHAle or Glen Taylor agree with us. They believe that they can still build a title winning team around him. I'm just looking at what I think is possible and realistic. We won't be a fifty game winner next year most likley unlesssome kind of miracle happens. AK47 is apparently going to ask for a trade. Ricky Davis+Trenton Hassell=possible deal?

Why on Earth would Utah think of such a thing.

The Wolves should look into trading KG to the Lakers for Bynum if the O'Neal deal doesn't go down. After Kobe's tirade, the Lakers seem less reluctant to say bye to Bynum. The Wolves could maybe get Bynum, a pick, Kwame's big expiring contract, and some solid role players. That could get the Wolves moving back in the right direction.

I'm not sure if that deal would work financially, AK is a VERY expensive ticket. You might have to add another $1-2M contract to match it. Even then, I don't think Utah would do that. Ricky is kind of what Utah needs on the court though, a 20-point scorer at the 2, but Ricky's attitude (which is honestly made out to be MUCH worse than it actually is because of his previous rep in Cleveland) would set off a red flag in Sloan's mind.

according to todays Star Tribune, a deal is very close to being done that would send Mike James to Houston for Juwan Howard.
