it's a 4 game home stand but 3 of the games are against playoff teams. It's also really late in the season to adjust to an injury like this. Tired legs and very little practice time hopefully, Dame doesn't try to do too much. He needs to trust his teammates and do a good job running the offense
I'd rather Portland lose some games and keep Dame rested for the playoffs. Sure, he could go MVP mode but that's going to take a lot out of him and opponents are really going to lock in on Dame. He'll get double-teamed often and his PnR action will probably get jumped a lot on the other end, I'd look for opponents to run Dame thru screen after screen unless Stotts hides him on defense...which I wouldn't mind seeing
All of these games should be won with a lot of inside dominance from the Bosnian Beast. Having all home games certainly helps - as our bench players shoot better at home.
Jake has played great when Mo was out....Hood has had a couple of good games after a long slump...they both need to step up and so does Curry
Luckily, we’re deep at SG. No excuses. The three teams ahead of us have had more injuries. Dame does not need to go hero mode. He has more scoring options to go to than Harden had.
We dodged the bullet on the injury. C.J. needs to rest and come back when he is ready. There is no need to abuse Dame before the playoffs. I think it might be a good time to see what Simons can do as well we might need him in the play offs
Jake layman had a month or two stretch of consistent basketball. He can build off of that. I believe he can be consistent now so I believe he will right the ship
Thinking it will probably cost a couple games. But in the end the Team will be fine. They will get CJ back and if they have lost a couple spots maybe down to 5 or 6 then the other team will have drawn a tough matchup anyway. For the most part i agree with the OP. Dodged a bullet. There will be no excuses however if they do not sustain any more significant injuries.
Teams often step up when a starter goes down for a few games. It's long term where it tends to take a toll.
Yep, and hopefully we can maintain a good pace and retain at least the 4th spot and McCollum is able to quickly get back on the floor.
