I've heard a million times on ESPN today that Kevin Durant is the only player entering the draft that cannot bench press 180 lbs 1 time. How much does this mean to you on a scale of 1 to 10? To me it means about a -2. The idea seems to be he will be used as a PF in the NBA, even though I think he's more suited as a SF. While your post players having strength is a very very important thing, the rules don't apply for this kid. In my 10+ years of watching college basketball, he is the best freshman scorer I have ever seen... by a long shot. I think this whole benchpress thing is really being made a bigger deal than it should be, because at the end of the day Durant still puts the ball in the hoop as good as anyone we've ever seen enter an NBA draft.

It doesn't mean anything to me. You don't win National Player of the Year by dominating the NCAA, then come into the NBA and suck because you can't bench 180 lbs. All it means to be is he needs to hit the gym some more. He'll still be a great player. He is very versatile, and this doesn't mean anything. At most, this means he'll play small forward in the NBA instead of power foward.

Nothing except hes just skinny like any other big man who plays on the perimeter. He'll get bigger this off-season, throughout the season and in a couple seasons he would have built his body of pretty well. Like they said on PTI, it can end up causing a major injury like Shaun Livingston, but other than that I dont think it will hinder his production as a player.

It's just not a very good thing to not be strong enough to do that when MY max is a couple months away from reaching that. I don't think he should be at PF unless he gets much stronger. It could work for some teams if more go with the run and gun, but I think he can be a really good SF.

Doesn't mean much to me, we all knew he was pretty weak, it's something he will address this summer, obviously. It won't take a guy like him long before he can bench 185.

It means to me that he needs to do growing for the offseason. Yes, he is extremely talented and will do just fine with the body he has right now in his rookie season, but if he wants to be a great rebounder and good defender, he'll need to get bigger and much stronger. Even if he plays SF, players like LeBron, Artest and Maggette will post him down low and he won't be able to do sh*t. But, he gained 20lbs from HS to college and he has a great work ethic. I am sure he will be bigger and stronger come training camp.PS- It is awesome to know that I can bench more than half the players entering the draft!

Not like AI, but he does have a guards dribbling skills. AI is probably top 5 greatest dribblers ever.

I knew he was weak but I thought he could at least do this. I am 15 and I can bench 110 and I just started working out...a month ago or so.

Well, a slow weak guy with no hops might have some problems, but not a huge amount.

Considering I bench about 150....I don't know. Hard to judge him on that.

does anybody else think that maybe he just wasn't trying that hard in the camp? it seems a bit fishy that he'd have such a bad bench press (worst), standing vertical (tied for worst), and running speed (one of the three worst). I bet he just figured he was going to be #2 no matter what he did so there was no point in trying ridiculously hard.

I just don't understand why anyone wouldn't try.

I love the few times I've heard people mention that they can bench more than these guys. Yeah, you can bench more, but they can jump higher, run faster, shoot better, and will get paid more money than you ever will.
