This is not factual at all. Canzano is now the only local program left on The Game and even he doesn't have many listeners anymore.

I was referring to the amount of national sports figures as guest. I listen to both and seems to me John out does them there. I wasn’t talking about ratings or facts and I don’t technically know it, just my impression with regards to caliber of guest.

Someone’s life? I love Nurkic and really love the person he is off the court most importantly but really someone’s life? He just resigned for life changing money last year and the injury he had is no way career ending as we have seen with Paul George and Gordon Hayward. So I don’t agree with your premise

I listened to their show, as sad as I am to admit it, from the beginning. I spent a lot of time in the car.

I had really grown tired of the show. Then Ropp gets a DUII, was super real, down-to-earth, apologetic, regretful, and owned it. Brought me back to listening to it. Then, today, he’s basically like, “I’m tired of sportscasters being down when bad things happen on the field or court of play. Be a reporter and report the good and bad with the same tone in your voice.”

My response... “Fuck you, home courter”. Ropp had one court, apparently, and it’s his own. You were down when you got busted and people still love and support you. That’s how our city rolls. We love our people. Don’t fucking diss is that supported you through your shitty mistake.

It was hypocritcal. Let people be real with their feels. If we can’t be real with our feels of humanity and feeling terrible about an injury and possibly the loss of a career, why should
I feel like he’s sincere about him getting drunk and driving?

I really liked the two dudes that were on in the morning a few years back. The guys who called us zeros. They actually talked blazers and you could tell they loved the team. Then they replaced them with the talking head cardboard mother fucker. I haven't listened to any of it since then. It's all garbage.

Isaac and Suke used to be my favorite radio show, in fact I used to record their simulcast on CSN. However, since the passing of Suke’s wife and Ropp’s DUI and inflated ego, I’ve sadly tuned them out. I don’t mind tuning into 620 AM on my drive to and from work though.

I would love to do something big with TBF. Daily podcasts or something would be cool, because I think we could do a better job than most radio shows, especially that one. I wanna compete with those guys.

You should get an internship with one of the stations.

And do things the wrong way as many stations have done for years?

I want to change the narrative, and blaze a trail. Itll be a long path and I'm just getting started, but local media needs something new. Something better.

The only respectable station is Rip City Radio 620. That's it.

    +1

I was gonna say the same thing. People love to overreact to injuries like this. Yeah it's not the best outcome, obviously, but his life won't be much worse because of this injury, if at all, and even if it is, he's still set up to have a better life than most of the people in the world. It's no tragedy. He could retire now and have an absolutely amazing life.

I'm sure he was sincere he about the fact he never intended to get caught.
But other than that. Zero chance he actually wanted to come on the radio and apologize for his DUII.
More-than-likely it was his boss telling him to save face. Making sure the ratings stayed high.

Personally I've never been able to listen to radio sports reporters. Their job description is 'keep ratings no matter what'.
Half the stuff they say I doubt they even believe.

Sincere about the intent of not getting caught? No drunk driver wants to get caught... that’s all.

Homers? As in--fans? Yeah, that's what made them fun to listen to. But they never toed the company line, or claimed the team was better than it was.

I think the real issue for radio shows is most of them have 3-4 hours to fill. A podcast has the advantage of not just having to make noise hours when there isnt much left to be said.

The advantage of radio is “most people” have access to one and its just there, whereas a podcast has to be sought after. I wonder what a podcaster could do to bridge the gap.
