    I've posted this before but Caron Butler got hurt in 2010-11 season. Mavs went on 6 game losing streak. They were dead in the water. Their only All Star was Dirk. They picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, and followed Dirk's lead to a sweep of the Champs and a Finals win over the Heatles.

    Golden State lost David Lee and....shit, I can't do this guys...this sucks...

    Okay. Positivity. I have tempered my postseason expectation but am very confident we will at least make it to the second round. The reason Nurk's injury is so devastating beyond the obvious is that this team (except for Evan-fucking-Turner) is greater than the sum of its parts and so NOTHING would have surprised me.

    Now? We still have the je ne sais quoi (a quality that cannot be described or named easily). That didn't reside in Nurk. That resides in the team.

    (Edited for the platypus even though he was joking.)

    Butler was injured less than halfway through the season, and was a tertiary player on that squad. Really not comparable to losing the team's clear #2 player with 10 games left.
