No NBA team has ever entered the draft without a pick in history I believe, usually because that team came off a 60 win season, and used their picks on blockbuster deals to make their team better. However we are not a 60 win team and we need to improve, should we trade to enter the draft, or trade for a rookie, or just trade for young talent?

Um..what about the Heat last year? This thread's false...but the Raptors don't need to trade into the draft because they have a playoff team. They just need to develop chemistry. You don't need to look for a franchise player because you already have one.

A lot of teams have entered the draft without a pick, the Hornets didn't have one in 2002. And I don't think the Raps need to trade into the draft; they'd probably have to give up a grip to get into the first round and they could probably just rely on undrafted free agents and overseas players.

I read the papers and I heard the after the draft-camp that the Raptors are interested in a 2nd rounder, seems like a pick in the 1st round has a hefty price to it.

We would have to drop like Mo-Pete and Jose for a pick in the 15-20 range. Worth it, no? Check out my blog for more on my opinion.

We don't need anybody else. We just need to work harder, and get off to a good start.

No no, I think you guys are misunderstanding. No team has ever entered the first round without having a pick. For example, if I was the Raptors this year, I would trade some players or something, for the 10th pick in the draft THIS year. which is allowed I believe. However, thats never happened before.

Im not counting the the teams that dont have a pick. what im saying is:- If a team (like the Raptors) would like to HAVE a first round pick, as in be in the Sacramento Kings spot, they would have to trade. Meaning, the Sacramento kings would trade their rights to the 10th pick for Morris Peterson for example. (So anyone the Raptors chose at 10th, would come via the Kings and the Raptors would be able to choose at the 10th spot.)- The Miami Heat never had a pick last year has nothing to do with what Im saying.

RF#1 is basically saying that no team has ever traded a player or players to another team to acquire their draft pick right before the draft, and "entered" the draft that way. I don't know whether or not that is actually true though... but that is what he meant. And technically you're not allowed to trade a draft pick straight up for a player unless one team is under the cap (I believe). So you'd basically be having Sacramento (as an example) drafting whatever player Toronto would want, and then right after the pick is made they would trade the player for Morris Peterson and a trade exemption.

Ive found that most people on this site are too ignorant to read the whole thread and just comment on what they think the topic starter says is wrong. I explained what I meant, but you still fail to see that.
