<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Watching tapes of NBA draft prospect Thaddeus Young, New Orleans Hornets coach Byron Scott didn't see much that caught his eye about the Georgia Tech forward's play.

In person, Young was able to sway Scott's opinion.

"I saw a bunch of tape on him this summer and watching the tape I wasn't impressed," Scott said Friday after watching Young and three other prospects work out. "But watching him out here in the individual workouts and the 2-on-2 and the 1-on-1 and things like that, he did a lot of things that I didn't see on the tape."

Scott said he had been disappointed that the three or four tapes he watched of Young didn't show the 6-foot-8 small forward's shooting ability and that the post-up moves primarily had him going up against smaller players. That left the coach without a positive opinion of Young, who's been projected as a possible selection for the Hornets at the 13th overall pick in the June 28 draft.</div>
New Orleans will more than likely end up with either Nick or Thaddeus Young on draft night. It's good to see Thaddeus impress though, he had kind of an up-and-down freshman year. The talent is certainly there, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the steal of the draft 5 years from now.

I dont see him dropping to New Orleans. I think he is a sleeper among fans and teams are seriously considering him. People forget that half of the top 10 picks are taken on potential...and Young has shown he is a good player with good potential. The thing about this is, does this mean the Bulls might trade Deng? Cause theres not any point of drafting Young if they have Deng.

What are you talking about with the Bulls? Where did that come in? This article is about Young working out in New Orleans... and regardless, why in the world would Chicago take Young at 9, then trade Deng? That makes absolutely no sense.

And you don't think Thaddeus Young will be there at 13? I do.

Haha, I was think it said Coach Scott Skiles....haha.But I think the Bucks, Wolves, Kings could all surprise is and take him simply cause of his potential, theres always that surprise pick in every draft. And when I was talking about the Deng thing, imagine if the traded Deng for Gasol or whatever, then to fill the SF spot with Thadeuss. I meant maybe the Bulls were thinking of trading Deng, and picking a SF as a result of that...not trading Deng as a result of picking a SF.

That Deng deal would still be pretty dumb. He's a keeper, he should not and likely will not, be traded. Thaddeus is nowhere near ready to play big minutes in the NBA right now, Deng is the glue to Chicago's defense, and they would not take a project swingman at 9.

I thought the same thing, but I thought the article was about Scott Skiles being impressed by Young..otherwise I never wouldve started thinking Deng was being shopped.

Deng is the face of the Chicago Bulls' franchise for many years to come. He's already developing into a star, he brings tough defense and can knock it down from just inside the perimeter. Anyways, I still think New Orleans should take Nick Young with their pick. They need a starting SG like crazy, and matching him up with Paul in the backcourt would be fun to watch. Besides, New Orleans has Peja as their starting SF. The guy can still play, he just had a terrible year, tainted with injuries. It's possible Thaddeus Young could fall all the way to 18 with the Warriors (after all, that's where he was predicted to go), but with all the teams that he's been impressing lately he could be picked right after the lottery.

I'm glad Byron Scott is impressed with Thaddeus Young, and I really wouldn't mind them taking him on draft day. The fact still remains that they need a 2, but if Scott will truly be committed to working with Thad they should take the chance. Improve his ballhandling a bit, and you might even see him logging minutes in the backcourt in the future.

Thad would be ideal to replace Mason at SF, but I'm just not sold on his shooting abilities. But I think if Coach Scott is impressed, that generally means Young is worth something to this team.

Don't forget about Peja. He can't defend 2's in the NBA, he'll be back next year. Also, I believe D-Mase is a free agent.

Here's some Q&A with Byron about Thad Young and the SF position. Check out the last two quotes; now I definitely believe that Scott and even Bower are truly interested and wouldn't mind taking him. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Byron Scott(on Thaddeus Young?s chances to be in an NBA rotation in 2007-08)?I don?t know. It will be interesting. I don?t know if he would be ready. The one thing I like about him and saw about him on the court was that he is a very fast learner. He has a great basketball IQ and a good feel for the game. Can he accelerate the process as far as his learning curve? Probably so. It would just be a matter of time.?Chris Paul was ready from Day 1 (as a rookie). I don?t think Thaddeus is there yet. But a year from now, I think he can be a special player.?(on Young?s NBA position)?Small forward is his spot. He?s got the long arms and is 6-foot-8. For our team, he would definitely be a three.?(on the Hornets? situation at small forward)? That position, without Desmond Mason, is still a pretty good position for us, with Peja (Stojakovic) and Rasual (Butler). We?ve got to take a look at guys like Thaddeus, because he is young, he is athletic, and he impressed me more today than (on) the three or four tapes I?ve seen of him.?If we can?t sign Mase, my first thing is probably moving Peja back to (small forward). But basically you still need (to add) a three or a two. A lot of it depends on whether we feel comfortable on whether we can re-sign Mase.?(on Peja Stojakovic?s new look and status)? He cut (most) of his hair off, so I don?t know what that means. Not (as short as) mine, but low. Kind of like Dirk (Nowitzki) when he cuts his hair. Peja said he felt great, was going to take a week off or so, and then start working out again. I trust him to do that and that he?ll come into (training) camp in great shape. He was disappointed in the way the season ended, not only for himself but for the team in general. He knew he could?ve been a big factor in the season. I know he?ll come back ready to play.?Jeff Bower(on Young?s workout)? It confirmed a number of things. We knew how athletic he was. The fact that he tested so well at the Orlando pre-draft camp was another confirming factor. The thing that was great was his personality and makeup. Those are things that will make up for his inexperience. He?s an extremely bright young man with a plan in place that includes hard work and studying players who are currently in the league.?(on which players Young compares to currently in the NBA)?His game has yet to be defined as to who he?ll be like or how he?ll play. He possesses good skills and outstanding athletic ability. I think eventually he will have a game that is effective posting up or facing the basket. Speed makes him a powerful player filling the lane in transition.?</div>

Supposedly Jordan has been infatuated with Thad and might reach at 8 for him. But besides a possible trade down or reach, I see Thad being in the range of the Hornets pick. Will be a nice selection for NO.
