I def have Haren as the Cy Young so far. His ERA is more than 1 lower than Beckett who's having a great season. Haren has just been dominating.Peavy so far in the NL as everyone said.

I predicted Josh Beckett at the start of the season. I'm leaning more towards CC Sabathia now, and Peavy in the NL.

In the AL, I am liking John Lackey. 9 wins, with a 2.70 era and 67 strike outs is pretty good as a starter. In the NL, I am liking Josh Peevy, although if Cole Hammels can lower that ERA he will definately make a run out of that CY young.

In the NL, it is Jake Peavy by far. Hamels is the next guy, IMO.In the AL, it is a mix of guys. C.C. Sabathia, Josh Beckett, and Dan Haren are some of the obvious choices like you mentioned. But if Roger Clemons does good this year, he may win it too with all the media attention in NY. Another person I can see that emerges as an early Cy Young is Fausto Carmona with a 3.11 ERA and a 7-1 record. As of late, Dice-K has heated up. If he has been pitching like he has lately, he would win it too.

Wins are the most meaningless stat out there.

AL: CC Sabathia (Right behind him are Haren, Beckett and Lackey)NL: Jake Peavy (Cole Hamels not too far behind, then Brad Penny and John Smoltz)

I agree somewhat, for starting pitchers wins doesn't mean a whole lot as lots of the time wins has to do with run support. People like John Lackey might have four losses, but since he's only giving up 2.70 earned runs a game, obviously he's not gotten the run support he has needed in those losses.

CC's win total is only high because of the enormous run support from Cleveland's offense. His ERA well over both Beckett and Haren's.

Clemens only won because of run support.

NL: Jake Peavy AL: Josh Beckett The AL race has a bit of irony to in my predictions. Back in 2002 Oakland ace Barry Zito won the cy young over Boston ace Pedro Martinez because Oakland made the playoffs while Boston didn't even though Pedro had the better season. This time Boston's ace Josh Beckett will win the award because his team will be in the playoffs where as Oakland won't even though Dan Haren has had the better season.2002:Pedro Martinez: 20-4, 2.26 era, 0.92 whip & 239 KsBarry Zito: 23-5, 2.75 era, 1.13 whip & 182 Ks2007:Josh Beckett: 9-0, 2.88 era, 1.00 whip & 67 KsDan Haren: 7-2, 1.58 era, *0.87 whip & 76 Ks * not adjusted for Saturday's start

Well I think this year will be an exception to that if the beats him in ERA by that much. That's insane... What about last year? Did some non playoff team pitchers win it over playoff team pitchers?

Johan Santana won it in the AL but the Twins won the AL Central. Brandon Webb won it in the NL but no one who was on a playoff team (LA, SD, NY & St Louis) deserved the award so it became a 2 man race between Roy Oswalt and Brandon Webb.
