13-5 over the last 18? Does seem like a stretch they can't boot any more games away like the Memphis game. They have to win all the gimme games; I count 8. Then, just go 5-5 in those more 'evenly' matched games. Or 6-4 if they do blow one of the gimme's. It's do-able, but it's a challenge tomorrow night's game against OKC is a critical game, even though the tiebreaker is already settled. A 4/5 matchup against OKC would be scary if OKC had HCA. I don't think Denver will fade enough for Portland to catch them, & Houston sure looks like they are getting into the super-team mode they had last year
5-5 in the more evenly matched? Weve just Gone 6-2 on the road for 7 against 2 contends and 3 other evenly matched teams. I wanna hear what games are "evenly matched".
Yeah i feel a bit better now also. Beginning of the year i really didn't think they were going to be better. Lets hope they can be playing well in a month.
I'm sorry BJ but it's almost like you spend a lot of time just looking for an argument with somebody about something in this case, you ignored what I said. That being that there were about 8 games on the schedule that were "gimme's"...games that Portland should win, and the rest of the games were "more evenly matched". Do you see the connection there?? Apparently not, so I'll explain it: 8 easy games and 10 games more evenly matched than the 8 easy games. It was pretty obvious what I was saying in other words, the home game against Phoenix is a gimme. The home game against Indiana, and the road games against New Orleans, and Minnesota, and Denver are examples of the more evenly matched. The last game against Memphis showed what can happen, even in games Portland should win, let alone against teams that can actually put up a fight I was also responding to a question about hitting the 52 win mark. That was the context of my suggestion that 5-5 in those tougher games would get Portland to 52 wins if they won all the easy games. It was about how to get there, not if they would or wouldn't.
How? I said people would be happier if we were playing at a 50 win pace, and at the time, people were unhappy with us playing at a 33-win pace over the last 15 games. What part of that was stupid?
Imagine if everyone brought up Kingspeed's terrible predictions. "Golden State might miss the playoffs"... yeah, no.
Not only remotely possible but done and then some. I am pleased to be wrong. We won't be losing 32 games.
