They will probably assign us Scott Foster for every game.

It was so refreshing to watch a game Wednesday that did not include Ken Mauer, Scott Foster, Tony Brothers, or that one skinny white dick.

Since you keep failing to acknowledge facts by posting this over and over, I'll keep responding to this ridiculous narrative.

How did having 2 superstars help OKC with the refs against Utah last year?

“We have a very rigorous vetting process,” McCutchen said. “Those three different groups give us a process which we then can see who consistently has done the work that warrants the best games of the year at the best time of the year.”

I can understand you might want to question it. But there is little question in my mind that OKC will in fact benefit from having two superstars on their roster. Westbrook will undoubtedly get to "Be Russ" when he should be getting thrown out. PG will get calls Dame cannot even ask for. It's just the way this will be. Can the Blazers beat them still? Sure. But more than once you will be scratching your head about a call that went OKC's way. Bet on that!

    Last year...

    James Harden
Reg Season 10.1 FTA per game
    Playoffs 7.8 FTA per game

    Russell Westbrook
Reg Season 7.1 FTA per game
    Playoffs 6.7 FTA per game
(Side note, this year he shot just 6.2 FTA per game which is his lowest in the last 9 seasons)

This notion that stars get calls in a playoff series is a little misguided in my opinion.

Still is not the point at all. Russel Westbrook and guys like Draymond Green will get calls and they will push the refs beyond what other players do.
I see you chose Harden. The guys gets an unprecedented 10 FTA per game all year and only drops to 7.8. You do realize Lillard was down to 4.3 last year right?
Try to understand that the guys who get calls get more calls. It doesn't make a difference that they get less than the regular season because all players get less than the regular season. Not saying it is wrong or anything else. Just saying that players who get calls get more than those who don't.

I strongly believe that PG and Westbrook will get more favorable calls that Mitchell and Gobert would have. I believe the refs will let Russ and PG get away with more plain and simple. Is that that crazy of an opinion? You don't agree?

To even use the same theory. Paul George got about 7 FTA during the season. Went to about 6 for the playoffs last year. Mitchell got about 4 and dropped to about 3.5 in the playoffs. There is no question using Hoops own stat concept that the Thunder will get more calls than the Jazz.

By the way Lillard 6.4 for the season and dropped to 4.3 for the playoffs.
Russel Westbrook 6.2 for the season LOW AND BEHOLD 6.7 FOR THE PLAYOFFS! How can that be??????

Depends on where you go. If you're serious, we could make it so I train you.

    I only require 2 things:

Show up 15 minutes early, ready to work and take constructive criticism.
Forget what you think you know about basketball.

The refs do let more contact go on most plays in the playoffs, just look at how we were reffed last year. The refs allowed both teams to essentially mug each other and not call a foul which fell right into NO lap with how physical they were playing dame and CJ to get the ball out of their hands. How the reffed the series had me about the angriest i've been since the 08 rockets were if Oden or prz sneezed on Yao they called a foul.

That's gotta be the toughest part for any new ref.

I'm in a spot were I'm going to have to search for a new job this year after having been with the same company for 15 years. I'm already trying to prepare myself with the mindset that wherever I go, I need to be "how do you guys do this" rather than "this is how I think it should be done". I'm sure it's the same with learning to ref.

A lot would help if the game was called that way during the season.

Most marginal contact isn't whistled in the playoffs and frankly, that's how it should be.

    Think about it this way:

Spectators watch the ball. In every sport that has one.

Referees have to look away from the ball and watch their primary area of responsibly. They must do this even when it's Lillard time and he has the ball at the top of the key.

It's the hardest thing to learn. And once you do what you think you know about the game changes because you're seeing things from different angles.

Let’s see if you still feel this way after the series.
