Holy hell what a strange season ET has had. He was horrendous last night, in a playoff game where we played 10 guys meaningful minutes and somehow everyone of them felt dialed in and emotionally invested but him (maybe I'm reading too much into his awfulness on the court...) I know this is insane to suggest, and I'm really trying hard to not overreact to one game from Simons or a couple absolute dog turds from ET, but at what point do we either pull the plug on ET's minutes and give the rookie a chance, or, just flatout push Dame and CJ to their playing time maxes? You're already seeing some of it with Rodney and Seth instigating a lot of the second team offense, so maybe the answer is just giving Jake ET's minutes and riding without a true PG? I don't know the answer, but I'm getting very very close to being completely sold on the fact that Evan Turner (despite seeing an NBA record just a few weeks ago) isn't it...
He played tremendous defense, on one possession for like 10 seconds last night. I was like why can't you do that all the time?
Oh was that the play he guarded Schroeder for a few seconds before he got beat? Is that what were talking about?
Turner will make a positive impact on this team and some point in the playoffs and we’ll be grateful for him. We’re winning right now. Stop bitching.
Game 2: Outside of Leonard, who played a lot with the starters, our bench had a negative +/- (in a 20 point win, no less). Game 1: our bench had a negative +/-. In much of the season, our bench has been outplayed by the opposing bench. Many are interested in keeping our 3 new guys, I'm not so sure. Way too much pressure is being put on our starters. Our Bench sucks. START BITCHING!!!! (lol)
I have complained about this all year and I was so annoyed in the 2nd quarter of game two. Whether you keep those guys or not, having 5 bench guys in none of whom are creators really is bad basketball, not only is their talent down from the starters, most other teams have at least one or two starters in. When they got down 10 they were playing 5 bench guys platooning like that especially with no creators the offense was so stale... When they platoon they have to play really fast, have to do just about everything right. Really though the just need to keep Dame, CJ, or enes on the court so they have an escape valve. I dont think that really means they shouldnt try to keep those new guys, I just think in a playoff game you cant do that platooning thing unless you have someone “like” lou williams on your bench.
Evan Turner has been really bad this series even for his standard. I don’t know what’s going on with this dude but it’s really dangerous letting him play right now. Stotts has to really consider giving him a DNP-CD and stop worrying about how expensive he is so therefore he needs to play
